Hi! I’m finally going to be finishing my guest bathroom. It’s been two years since we started this project and it definitely became the catch all from all of our other projects. So please, please ignore the mess! This bathroom is about 5’ wide x 9’ long to the back of the shower. Layout of the bathroom is vanity when you first walk in, toilet and then shower. I’m thinking I want to do 24x48 inch tile in here… is that going to be ok? If so, which direction and layout should I lay it? Should I do smaller tile? Thanks!!! First pic is inspo even though it’s not the same size tile, second pic is mine.
Edit: Wow thank you SO MUCH to all for your responses! For context, I don't really think our contractor is being lazy/is out to get us or anything. I live in a tiny town of 2,000 people, so reputation is everything. He's done 2 of our friend's bathroom, took over his dad's contracting business/has worked on many old homes/etc etc.
After reading comments though, I think it is VERY very very likely he's concerned about our budget (we're a teacher/nonprofit employee household and this bathroom will likely be the only project we can ever afford to have someone else do due to an incredibly generous monetary gift from my husband's grandmother), which I admit he probably should've just said straightforward, BUT, being in a small/rural town/everyone is friends of friends....he probably doesn't want to make assumptions and be seen as rude, so I can get that (we're locals/but lots of wealthy tourists have 2nd homes here....we're clearly not that...most locals do all their own renovations due to cost). Gonna follow up with him about what I want and if he's not able to do it, we'll move on. Thanks again!

We have an 1800 colonial house. We're gutting the bathroom and actually paying someone to do the tiling. I originally wanted a small/hexagon tile on the floor, but our tile person recommended going with a larger tile for such an old home (he also has an old home/has done a lot of work on old homes) because it hides more of the imperfections/uneven-ness of the floor.
I've never heard that before...so just curious what y'alls opinions were on this before I start to reimagine what I'd like for tiling! Or if I just ask him to do what I originally wanted anyways lol
Thanks for your help!
I have a relatively small 5x6 bathroom I need to tile but would like suggestions as to what’s trending right now, and what you think may stick around for a while. White subway tiles? Black subway tiles? Herringbone wall tiles? Hexagon floor tiles? I’m all ears for any ideas and suggestions. What color and size wall tiles would you recommend for the shower area, The shower base and the bathroom floor? And links to pictures or tiles would be greatly appreciated.

Redoing our small (7’5” x 8’3”) en suite bathroom. I am overwhelmed by all the different flooring choices. I’m interested in a quality floor that won’t be hard for us to maintain in our old age. It appears tile might be the best choice. But porcelain? Ceramic? If you had unlimited resources, (I don’t and am not looking to do gold, lol) what would you choose? If it matters, we’re doing a shower with glass doors. Bonus, add-on question: what should I look for in a good installer? Thanks in advance for any advice.
