The IKEA APPLARO outdoor line is pretty great. You can buy as many sections as you want to create a custom sectional outdoor sofa. It’s made from real wood, so it needs some care and to be covered for bad weather (they sell a cover for $60 for it too) but wood is also easy to refresh if it gets weathered (sand it, re-stain with an $8 jar of stain, and seal). The cushions also have removable covers that are washable. They don’t tie to the sofa so I ended up buying heavy-duty self-adhesive Velcro and attaching a small piece to the bottom of each seat cushion and the other side to the wooden seat to keep them from sliding around when sitting. Yes it’s annoying to assemble but it’s very affordable for the size and customizable configurations, and there are other outdoor pieces in the line that match (table, bench, etc.) More on reddit.com

Has anyone purchased this and care to share their thoughts? The black looks nicer, but I believe the chair backing / side only come in grey.

I’m looking for an outdoor sectional couch for our deck. A friend has a faux wicker one from Overstock that they like and I’ve enjoyed sitting on it too, but theirs is out of stock and it’s impossible to gauge what is going to be comfortable/decently sized for normal size people/not going to fall apart too quickly. I know a set made like that won’t last as long as polywood, etc. but I think it will suit us for now if we can find one that isn’t terrible. If you or someone you know has a specific couch that is tried and true, please drop a link below!!
Criteria:
Must have arms on the end seats (so many don’t!)
Reasonable height seat backs
I’d love one that can be arranged in a U shape, but I’ll take an L shape with ample seating too
Neutral color scheme preferred (for example, I’m looking at some on Overstock that are darker gray wicker with light gray cushions)
Decent, reasonably comfortable cushions also preferred. We’ll gladly get a cover for it to protect the cushions but if it happens to have Sunbrella cushions or something else that will stand up to the elements a bit, that is also a plus.
I don’t know the exact size I’m looking for but maybe a 7-12 seater? We have good space on our deck, so I’m sure either will fit as long as the couch is modular like others I’m looking at
Pennsylvania, US weather but again, we will use a cover with it

July 2, 2025 - This is the anti-IKEA seat. There is no assembly required or screws to tighten. The seats have a rod and dowel construction.The frame is almost one piece. It's also got a very classic design, but the curved sides and tapered legs give it a flair that makes it modern and unique. When I catch a glimpse of the backyard from the street, the sofa definitely stands out and makes the entire deck look classier. Visitors are always asking where I got my outdoor couch.
