Small battery powered pump to bring water from well?
What is the smallest water pump that is available?
Water pump size/power for small tank?
Look at the GPH rating and select the lowest you can find. There might also be a “lift” spec - make sure it’s at least 9.5”.
Have fun! Still working on my first also!

Hello,
I’ve got an off grid cabin on the Maine coast with a natural spring/well about 500 feet away. We use the water for wash water mostly, and sometimes filter it for drinking water during longer stays. The well is at the same elevation as the cabin or maybe a little higher (dropping gently through the field then back up about 8ft at the cabin).
Carrying jugs of water from the well is a time honored chore, but I’m wondering if there might be an alternative in the form of a battery powered drop-in pump and a long hose. I’m picturing a smallish 6v or 12v battery with ~500ft of small diameter hose. I carry it out to the well, hang the pump intake into the water, and start the pump. It slowly pumps water along the long horizontal run and we use it to fill all our jugs etc., then run back out and turn it off when everything is full. Then collect and store the whole thing when we leave the cabin.
Is this arrangement theoretically possible and/or worth a try, and if so what size components (pump, hose, battery) might I be looking at?
