I know this question has probably been asked a million times but I wanted see if I could get some more tailored information. I live in a city here in Florida that is dominated by an older, retired population. I previously worked for a big integration company in the area for a few years and had multiple situation where clients would ask about DIY style smart home product from companies like google and amazon. Being that the company I worked for was direct with companies like control4, crestron, and URC, I'd tell these clients that we do not work with DIY style products and would either twist their arms to buy the more expensive and more complicated systems or lose the sale of that specific task. I've had my fair share of side jobs come my way for installation of smart bulbs and integrating lights and home theater systems to support voice control. It is apparent to me at that time that a lot of folks at least in my area were not proficient at setting up things that me, a 24 year old found simple. I was thinking a business model in which I'd offer 3 or 4 different level packages. each level would add more rooms and more devices. I, myself, am proficient in installation as well as communication with clients, being that I've dealt in sales my entire time with the previous company. Long story short, could I make money designing and installing DIY smart home products for the older generation in my city?
Hello to all
I am currently thinking about opening a company that will work on home automation systems. Since I am new to the field, but have experience in informatics, automation, electronics, programming and currently work as an automation engineer in a factory, I would like to know where and how to start. My idea is to find, plausible, one company that would be able to give me authorization to be a representative, like Tuya or Möwe or someone else. (I am in Europe) Now, I heard a lot of bad comments about Tuya which I chose first. I would like to give full support with home automation to customers, customizing home assistants in the best possible way, like Google Home Assistants, which could use scripts or some other sort of applications. I am also looking at the possibility for deploying cameras, smoke detectors, integrating them as a part of offline/online systems. As I said, my experience in industry automation could be a drag here because I look at everything as SCADA systems and not as some standalone applications. Guys, what are you thoughts on opening a bussines like this, as I said I just entered researching into this field and could use some sort of recommendation what to look for, what to avoid and where to put my energy into.
Thanks
