Smart telescopes
Even the largest telescopes in the world can’t image planets outside of our solar system, so no. Galaxies, stars. nebulae, etc.. sure. Extra solar planets? No. Lots of readily accessible retail telescopes can take good images of local planets and have photography set ups that you can link together. Check out the r/Astrophotography for more information. Best smart telescopes 2026: Observe and photograph stars, galaxies and nebulas easily | Space
June 2, 2026 - As we noted in our Unistellar eVscope 2 telescope review, it's easy to tell that every aspect of the telescope has been carefully designed. The Nikon eyepiece is comfortable to use and gives it more of a traditional feel, although the soft rubber surrounding does tend to trap dust and fibers. If it wasn't for the eVscope 2's eye-watering price tag — $5,000 — we'd recommend it as one of the best smart telescopes for beginners.

Smart telescopes – what they do and how to use one | BBC Sky at Night Magazine
February 9, 2026 - In many cases, all you need to do is to pick a target on the app, and let the telescope find it and then start capturing it. Imaging is done using short exposures, which reduces the effects of field rotation; the captured images are then stacked live on your phone or tablet. Many smart telescopes are fully automated altaz systems, but although they track the stars better than an equatorially mounted setup (left), they suffer from field rotation (right) that requires cropping.
