Although for some very small businesses I understand people try to do things for free, for anything more than periodic statistics and planning of messages, you really need paid versions. That's what I think at least. Answer from CondorPerplex on reddit.com

r/SocialMediaManagers on Reddit: Best Social Media Listening & Analytics Tools
July 28, 2024 -

I kinda feel like social media listening and analytics tools in the market are popping up in the market everyday & demand is also increasing. These are my favorite tools for social listening:

1. Mention

It’s one of the most used social listening tool as I always come across this tool in a conversation about social listening.

Overall the tool is recommended by me because the resources & features they provide can help you better than other tools in the market.

2. Brandwatch

Brandwatch is a social media management tool, but they acquired Falcon, A social listening tool. Now, it’s the part of their platform and you can schedule & listen to your audience within their platform.

One of the reasons I recommend them is they do great job at CX & collaborate well with HigherEd. If you work in HigherEd, I will recommend you to go for Brandwatch.

3. Syften

Syften can help you track conversations around your product & business on reddit, quora, hacker news & others.

I don’t dislike the tool, but it’s best for SaaS owners, startups. It’s a scrappy social listening tool but it works. That’s why I mentioned it here.

4. Brand 24

Brand 24 is another great social listening tool with a better reporting process. You can track mentions across all main marketing channels & get reported.

I myself came across brand24 recently through reddit suggestions. From what I have heard so far. It deserves to be here.

5. Supermetrics for Social Media Data

Their templates and connecters helpful in combining social data with other marketing channels and performances.

On social listening, Public data connectors from Supermetrics can pull in relevant hashtags, posts, and engagement from your competitors or industry leaders and stay on top of the game.

6. Tweetdeck

It’s the best tool to track conversations around your brand on Twitter. It used to free, not anymore. Though I still find it useful for our brand.

But some features like reporting & better CX isn’t the best part of Tweetdeck. As Twitter isn’t fully focused on users utilising this feature.

But if your brand audience is active on twitter, this tool can deliver most accurate results.

7. Gummy Search

It’s one of the best tools to track conversations across reddit & you can also get analysis of sub-reddits where your target audience is active.

Recommended to SaaS founders, startups & entrepreneurs to track conversations around their business.

Honourable mentions

  • Agorapulse & Sproutsocial are also famous for social listening but they are overall social media management tools. That’s why you might consider moving to them completely if your current tool lacks social listening features.

  • Awario is a social listening tool with similar features to tools mentioned above but not a standout. Thats why it didn’t make the list.

  • Google Alerts is one of my favourites but the tracking is limited to Google only.

Your favourite tool?

Let's not talk about scheduling tools because we all use them but one area that social media agencies are lacking in general are analytics and reporting, so I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this?

Exporting data from the native platforms and compiling them into slides is what we do currently but that can take quite a well especially if we do it weekly or bi weekly, and sproutsocial is out of the budget for smaller agencies.

We have used buffer, hootsuite and later before for scheduling posts but none of them are known for their social listening features or analytics.

Would there be other feasible alternatives out there?

Hey everyone! 👋✨

I’m diving deep into the world of free social media tools 🌐 and I’d love to hear from this amazing community—what’s your go-to tool for managing posts, scheduling content, or tracking performance? 📅📊

Here are a few gems I’ve stumbled upon:

🌟 Buffer: Simplifies scheduling and analytics (free plan = lifesaver 💡).
📈 Hootsuite Free Plan: Manage 2 social profiles and track basic stats.
🎨 Canva: Design like a pro with stunning templates for every platform!
📸 Later: Perfect for visual planners, especially on Instagram.
🕵️ Zoho Social (Free Plan): Basic tools for small teams to manage campaigns.
🐦 TweetDeck: Real-time monitoring and scheduling on Twitter = win-win.
♻️ SocialBee Free: Helps you recycle and schedule posts effortlessly.
🔗 Bitly: Shorten links + track clicks = campaign magic!

I’ve personally loved using Canva for quickly resizing designs for different platforms (e.g., resizing an Instagram post for a Facebook cover)... What about you? 🚀

Hey everyone I have a question, I was looking into a marketing analytics tool for making mass profiles on client companies, basically we wanted to take lead lists run it through a script that generates information from an analytics tools api.

Basically looking for a tool like pagespeed insights but for social media and ad marketing(or two separate tools) also with ideally a free backend to use or cheap. If thats not an option then whatever you’d recommend.

We would only be using the tool for analysis of other companies so anything that has to do with content creation is unnecessary.

An important note: we really just need a tool that is able to tell us basic information about a companies social media presence like engagement, activity, etc. Something easily digestible for sales people, advanced analytics are unnecessary.

Thanks.

r/SocialMediaMarketing on Reddit: Need Help Finding a Social Media Analytics Tool That Can Access Historical Data
January 13, 2025 -

Hi everyone,

I recently switched from a social media publishing and analytics tool and have run into an issue with reporting on the new tools I’ve tried. I understand there are API restrictions for accessing historical data, but I want to make sure that whatever tool I move to next allows me to access all data starting from January 1, 2025. This is critical for accurate reporting in my Q1 2025 reports.

Here’s a bit more context:

  • I previously switched tools, which unfortunately ended up burning us. The reports were skewed/outdated, and some numbers were even inflated. Because of this, I had my team manually pull data, a mistake I’d like to avoid this time around.

  • My team and I need a reliable platform that can access and save historical data as soon as possible.

  • My budget is around $400–$600 USD/month.

  • I have 4 users managing around 70 social platforms (a mix of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.).

I’ve already tried Vista Social and Metricool, but they didn’t fit our needs.

Does anyone have recommendations for tools that could work for this use case? Or has anyone dealt with a similar situation and found a good workaround? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions.

TL;DR: Need a social media analytics tool (budget: $400-$600/month) for 4 users and ~70 platforms that can access historical data (Jan 1, 2025) and save it. Vista Social and Metricool didn’t work/fit what we are looking for.

Since I’m new to social media marketing, I have been doing manual analysis. I’m fine doing that but I was wondering if you guys have any specific thing you look for while performing an analysis or any specific metric to keep an eye out for. I aim for organic so any advice on that would be appreciated.

P.S: Y’all are so helpful and insightful and I’m glad to be a part of this subreddit. Thank you ✨

Hey there! As someone who lives and breathes marketing analytics at Dashthis, I'm happy to share some insights that might save you time and improve your results. For someone new to social media marketing focusing on organic growth, here's what you should be monitoring: 1. Engagement Rate This is the holy grail metric! Calculate it by dividing total engagements (likes, comments, shares) by your total number of followers, then multiply by 100. This tells you how actively your audience interacts with your content—much more valuable than vanity metrics like follower count alone. 2. Reach & Impressions Reach shows how many unique users saw your content, while impressions count total views (including multiple views from the same user). For organic growth, increasing reach should be a primary goal. 3. Audience Growth Rate Don't just track raw follower numbers—calculate your growth rate as a percentage. This helps normalize data across platforms and provides better insight into your momentum. 4. Click-Through Rate (CTR) This measures how many people click on your links compared to how many saw your post. It's crucial for understanding how effectively you're driving traffic from social platforms to your website. 5. Conversion Rate The ultimate measure of success—what percentage of social visitors take your desired action? This could be signing up, making a purchase, or any other goal that matters to your business. It is like your marketing funnel into a report, so then it is easy to see where you should focus to bring more money to your client... because as you may know at the end, this is what they're looking at (most of them ;) Here a a few good social media management/reporting tool you may like to look at to automate your reports. As I guess you have other things to do :) All-in-one reporting and social media management : Hootsuite: A veteran in the space that lets you manage multiple platforms, schedule content, and monitor conversations in one dashboard. Gives you also some organic insights. Buffer: User-friendly interface with a great free tier for beginners and small businesses. Reporting/analytics tools : DashThis: Automatically tracks your KPIs over time in visual graphs. Gives you a clean overview of multiple clients in one dashboard. Their preset social media analytics templates get you set up in minutes, saving hours of manual work. Easy-to-use and the most affordable on the market. Agencyanalytics: As all social media integrations as well as the other tools. Is made for agencies, so a lot of features to help create multiple reports. But I find the learning curve more steep than other tools. Google Data Studio: Free (not that free because you'll need social media connectors) data visualization tool. You can add all your other channels. There is more manual work to make it looks good though, it is hard to make deep analysis too (my point of view) Any questions? Let me know : )

I'm by no means a big creator or professional marketer (I'm a dev building SaaS products), but here are my two cents. My goal is usually to understand WHAT content gets views in my audience and WHY. My process looks like this: Find all competitors Find top-performing accounts in the niche Analyze what they post and what gets views When doing analysis, I pay special attention to: Scroll stoppers - What made them stop scrolling? E.g. WTF visual, provocative hook, etc. Value - What made them keep watching? E.g. valuable content, fun content, etc. CTA - Are there any calls to visit/subscribe/install? Branding - Do they mention their product/service? Comments - What are people discussing? I also take notes about the profiles themselves: How many profiles are associated with the company/product? Are they branded or authentic? Do they include links or not? Based on all that, I compile a matrix of what content is posted. From here, there are two options - either fill in the gaps or adapt someone else's strategy. Hope that helps!

I am from SEO industry and almost 3 years are completed. During the first year while I was in SEO, I took interest in Social media but unfortunately, It doesn't goes long for 2 months but in 2025, social media is on fire. It's not about this year but social media was also the top platform for last 3, 4 years. Now, it's on peak. I am big fan of Reddit and Quora (Forums) but at the same time Instagram reels are also in this chart. So as in this age of AI, Again I want to start marketing on social media. And there are many AI tools that are creating content for you. But now the point is that just creating the content is not enough you have to monitor the performance with great analytics to make further strategic planning. So I want to ask from all social media experts, any social media monitoring tool you could suggest me that cover all most all social media platforms including the forums I mentioned above.
