Can I cook on my fire pit?
Is this fire pit portable?
How do I clean and maintain the fire pit?
The difference between oh and ah?
Looking at replacing a traditional outdoor fire pit with a solo stove. The current bowl shaped pit is almost 48” in diameter, which doesn’t matter a crazy amount because I can barely get enough airflow to get a good fire rolling in half of it.
Other than liking the Solo stove product, I am mainly interested in replacing the current fire pit because I have a toddler, and I like the idea of having the surround, which would give me 2 seconds to stop him from jumping in the fire vice the zero margin of error I have now. Also, having a place to put a beverage would be nice. My only wish, is the surround has storage for tools.
All that said, I like the idea of more space, the Canyon has an interior diameter of 27.5” while the Yukon “only” has 23”. I can appreciate the goal is not to be able to lay the wood flat in the stove, but 23” just seems restrictive. I know plenty of people have them, and they obviously work.
I hate the fact that to get a Canyon, I have to go to a third party, and I hate even more that to buy one (at least what I have found) is it comes in a bundle with a stand and cover, all things useless to me because I can’t use them with the surround.
I hate that the surround for the Yukon is the same as the canyon, because I just think that means there is a 1.5 inch gap between the stove and surround all around.
So, Canyon, and Yukon 30” owners, is it worth it? Yukon owners, do you ever want for 4.25 more inches?
Does anyone here have the Canyon 2.0? Got one from the family as a new home gift but I didn’t realize how incredibly massive this thing would be until it showed up on my doorstep.
Wondering what wood burn looks like.
-
How much wood do you burn on average per session?
-
How much pellets are you burning through a session?
-
How close can you stand to a full burn without having to worry. I’ve got small kids so now I’m wondering if I need to spend $500 to get the surround from Solo Stove.
I’ve looked online but most all of the reviews and posts are about the Bonfire and Yukon. But I’ve got the massive Canyon. Any and all help is welcomed. Also, if anyone has recommendations on pellets let me know. I’ve seen them at Costco, Lowe’s and Home Depot and wonder how they all compare. Especially when Solo Stove sells their own.
