As someone who probably has every accessory besides the new deflector...I'd say each one has a use case but it depends on how you're using it. The lid is awesome if you want to use it as a table when you're not using it. The stand is great if you're on grass and don't want to kill it or if you're on a wood deck. The spark shield is great if your wood tends to "pop"...I have multiple holes in my patio chair cushions from NOT using it. The cover is great if you are somewhere that gets rain or snow Even the pokers and skewers are super well built, I used to buy cheap ones but ended up replacing them sort of frequently, these things will hold up forever. Mesa is for outdoor use only. It was made as a tabletop fire pit, sized perfectly for outdoor dining tables to stylish end tables. Mesa should always be used with its included stand on a stable surface. Even while using the stand, the fire pits burn extremely hot, and hot air may gather underneath. Do not use on heat sensitive materials. Do not ever leave Mesa unattended on or near a combustible surface, even when it is cooling down.

What are some of the other differences between Mesa and Mesa XL?
Mesa XL has a pellet capacity of about 3x more than Mesa, and will subsequently burn for about 15 minutes longer (45-60min total with pellets). It will also emit more heat while burning, due to more fuel being consumed. Both Mesa and Mesa XL are very easy to light, will have about the same flame height when burning, and are extremely portable and functional for your outdoor spaces!
