Solo Stove Mesa Tabletop Fire Pit Review | Camping World Blog
March 28, 2025 - There’s nothing worse than realizing your campsite doesn’t include a fire pit, especially if you’ve been building up S’mores as a reward for good behavior with the kids. Then there’s all the work to build a larger fire in a traditional pit. This Mesa Tabletop Fire Pit review highlights why this compact Solo Stove is the perfect solution and an amazing alternative to traditional fire pits.

I have a solo stove bonfire and am in love with it. It’s bigger than the mesa so I can’t speak to that specific size. But the bonfire is awesome on summer nights. Their customer service is also next level. More on bogleheads.org

Mesa xl worth it?
I have one and a bonfire. The Mesa xl puts off some heat. If you plan on using it for warmth I would get the heat deflector. I use mine when I’m shoveling snow to go warm my hands up but mostly we use it so my daughter can make smores on it. More on reddit.com

Keeping a Mesa going with wood pellets?
Pellets burn fast and hot. They need to be replenished to keep a flame going. More on reddit.com

What are some of the other differences between Mesa and Mesa XL?
Mesa XL has a pellet capacity of about 3x more than Mesa, and will subsequently burn for about 15 minutes longer (45-60min total with pellets). It will also emit more heat while burning, due to more fuel being consumed. Both Mesa and Mesa XL are very easy to light, will have about the same flame height when burning, and are extremely portable and functional for your outdoor spaces!

What surfaces can I use Mesa on?
Mesa is for outdoor use only. It was made as a tabletop fire pit, sized perfectly for outdoor dining tables to stylish end tables. Mesa should always be used with its included stand on a stable surface. Even while using the stand, the fire pits burn extremely hot, and hot air may gather underneath. Do not use on heat sensitive materials. Do not ever leave Mesa unattended on or near a combustible surface, even when it is cooling down.

Solo Stove Mesa: A Tiny New Portable Fire Pit for Tabletops - CNET
September 1, 2022 - The Mesa is so small that you can only use twigs or small pieces of wood to fuel your fire, but I was able to initiate a little blaze in less than a minute with dried pine needles and a small pile of slim birch branches broken into short segments. (I went with what twigs and slim branches I could find around the yard.) There's also an included pellet adapter that you can place inside the Mesa if you want to use wood pellets, which Solo Stove sells along with mini oak firewood.
