something was wrong... but it's getting better
I'm with you. I have my frustrations with the show, but I'm rooting for it. I think Tiffany is sincere, and I think she wants it to be a force for good. What I really appreciate about the recent two-parter is the growth and self-reflection. At its best, this podcast can really help people. While NO ONE deserves what Amelia went through (I absolutely do not think she was to blame for her husband's behavior), by her asking herself those tough questions about why she ended up in the situation, why she stayed, etc., not only will help her to keep from repeating the pattern and to protect her children, but it may very well help someone else from the same fate. That takes emotional courage. More on reddit.com

Something Was Wrong is an awful podcast
I listened to the first few seasons a while ago and found the stories interesting enough, but fell off soon after. I gave it another shot recently with the latest season about Jessica P. and "Brody" and it was just awful. You can tell this small bit of popularity has gone to the host's head. She's taken to calling herself a "documentarian" and is calling the FBI to try to get them to press charges against someone for catfishing. She had an opportunity to speak to the catfisher and get their side of the story and completely fumbled it because she has no idea what good journalism and interviewing looks like. I believe she starts to think of her podcast subjects as friends and it turns into a really weird circle jerk of "exacctlyyyyyyy" instead of compelling storytelling. Also yeah, long, rambling accounts of unfiltered information from the victims that could easily be condensed, clipped, or summarized. I think she really prides herself as being someone who lets the victims' voices be heard, but she could still do that while having a sense of structure and not exhausting the listener with unnecessary details- IF she knew what she was doing, which she does not. /end rant lol sorry More on reddit.com

Something was wrong season 13 episodes 3&4 rant

Ugh these church-centric stories on SWW and elsewhere all seem sadly similar.

There's a surprising naiveté of how abuse works and how to recover from it. There's a strong streak of misogyny coupled with a lack of agency for females. Many of the younger church members work, live & socialize exclusively with others from their church.

So, I wasn't surprised that Odessa pinned the blame on the "other woman" and expected more from her than she expected from her own husband..

The 25 Best 'Something Was Wrong' Podcast Episodes
October 3, 2022 - The first episode of Something Was Wrong set the tone of the entire podcast. Season 1 follows Sara, and the abuse she suffered at the hands of her former fiancé. Host Tiffany Reese is a bit more cavalier in this episode than in later seasons, but it's wonderful to see a woman so passionate about shedding light on such issues.

April 19, 2023 -

So I recently started S1 of SWW..its been kind of slow, however, I keep reading that this podcast is good, so I am hoping it picks up. I understand how terrible and awful animal cruelty is but up until now (ep. 7) that's all I am hearing Dick has really done..well beside lying about two non existent friends - which I get - is creepy and weird but does this get better? (w/out spoilers please) I mean pertaining to true crime subject.

I thought it would be a little more edgy, perhaps I am wrong though.

I love this podcast, but there is nothing that ruins one for me like a bad (for lack of better words here) story teller. These episodes were twice as long as they needed to be because Amy (victim) just BABBLES. Over explains/describes everything.
