I usually like to go for L series primes and third party zooms because I am not made of money and my primary job is not photography (though I do a fair number of paid photography jobs year-round). If I went back to 2020 when I switched to mirrorless, and you told me I would be waiting at least 4 years before I had access to RF mount 3rd party lenses, I would have jumped ship to Sony or Nikon in a heartbeat. Hi guys, I am a new wedding photographer. I currently have the original canon 7d body with 18-135mm lens and 50mm f/1.8 lens.
I'm trying to figure out if I should purchase purchase the Canon R6 iii OR completely change it up to a Sony A7 IV
What are your thoughts and recommendations?

I didn't want to lose my lens investment, so I bought the RF adapter and kept my lenses, the R6 has been an amazing photo camera for me, so that has my vote.

Good evening,
I currently use a Canon R6 and Iโm at a major crossroads: Canon R6 Mark III or Sony A7V?
I already own EF lenses:
โข Canon 16โ35mm f/2.8L III โข Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art โข Sigma 24โ70mm f/2.8 โข Canon 100mm Macro
However, Iโm considering switching to Sony for the following reasons:
1. Weight 2. Native lenses 3. Video colors and low-light performance 4. Autofocus

I currently have a Canon R6. Itโs still a solid camera, but Iโm looking for an upgrade mainly for stronger video capabilities and overall hybrid performance, especially for professional work.

I shoot both video and photography, mainly events, commercial/advertising content, and fashion.
(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both?
Both (hybrid use), with a strong emphasis on video alongside professional photography.

Changing system can be costly, and specifically video autofocus on Sony with adapted EF lenses might not work with all adapters. The R6iii beats the a7V for some video specs, especially open gate. Sony's lens options are somewhere between eclipsing and as good as Canons options. The a7V has some benefits in image quality, low-light, and very substantial benefits as far as heat management and battery life. If you are video focused, how do you feel about Sony's higher detail 4k and much longer record time vs Canon's open-gate high res mode

If you want those things you should move to Nikon. Sony colours are fucking terrible and always have been. Especially now Nikon has access to RED log in video. Auto focus in 2025 is a pointless comparison. You could buy a Canon, a Sony or a Nikon and it would be functionally identical.
