How are older Sony CCD cameras regarded. I’ve noticed that a lot of activity and attention regarding vintage and digi cameras online are focused on brands like Fuji Kodak Canon and Olympus but I rarely see excitement over Sony models.
Are the images not as good or don’t evoke that filmic look? Just based on my experience i always thought the older Sonys back in the day looked off or super digital but I’m curious what others think.

Sony wasn’t a film camera manufacturer so they had to prove a lot to be a competitor in the market. IMO their earlier point and shoots were not that great and it wasn’t til the acquisition of Konica Minolta did they start to make some real traction. The one thing that was lost in the acquisition was Konica color science, Sony had to create their own color science and it wasn’t as good as the likes of Canon, Nikon, Fuji, or Olympus but it improved over time.

A lot of early Sony interest is focused on the Mavica camera. Check out the subreddit all about them here: Sony Mavica subreddit r/Mavica Clunky cameras that take floppy discs. Several models to choose from. The first few (like the FD5 and FD7) are essentially video cameras that only make video stills, for that real VHS quality. Later ones are better quality, with good features. All quite big as they have to fit floppy discs. Sony later made much smaller cameras using their own Memory Stick memory cards. They are also good and well regarded.

I looking to buy the vintage camera and choosing between Sony Cyber Shot W350, WX30, WX100 and W650.
Which camera will be better for retro vibe look? And if you can recommend some other camera for this which one it will be?

Those are all fairly new cameras. They'll produce sharper images due to larger sensors with more pixels. An older Sony with a lower megapixel count, such as a DSC-W1, will get you closer to what you are looking for if you want retro feeling straight out of camera photos.

August 17, 2023 - I have a slightly smaller Sony from about the same era: the DSC-W630 . It doesn't have that typical mid-2000 aestethic. But I have a lot of fun shooting it nevertheless. It's a small and snappy camera with bright colors. Different experience and results compared to taking pictures with your phone. That makes it worth it to slip it into your pocket every time you leave home.

Start with the a7ii if you can, less than that it's not worth it. It's an older model but still worth it (it's the one I do all of my photo shoots with)

I was looking at getting a Sony Cyber Shot for fun but I know it went viral online and there’s a lot of scams and inflated pricing. What’s a reasonable price for these? I saw the DSC S750 model for $100 and the DSC W150 for around $200… condition looks pretty good but I also am very new to buying vintage cameras so I’m not really sure if this is expensive for what it is (it probably is though).

I've never had anything sell so quickly. Examples include Sony cyber shot, canon ixus, Nikon coolpix.
Even faulty ones get loads of views. I try to price my stuff so I can reduce them later if they don't sell but it sold in 10minutes. It's a faulty old digital camera..
I'm just baffled as phone cameras are so much better. Can anyone explain?

Several good reasons given already, but I saw another reason recently. A person was looking for a simple point-and-shoot digital camera for their child who was going to camp where cell phones were not allowed. The child wanted to take pictures and that was the camp's recommended alternative.
