November 26, 2022 - Without knowing the model eBay is of no use to me. ... I wish they would revamp the 2005 NW-A1000 series with up to date standards. Those things were gorgeous ... The earlier gumstick sized players are so cute, I wish Sony would still make something of that form factor. They'd be cool just as an accessory, but I guess the market is far too niche to support that. Is Sony going to make a new flagship Walkman at all?

r/cassetteculture on Reddit: Is there a list of all Walkman models produced by year?
March 28, 2022 -

I'm trying to find the Sony Walkman my mom used to have. She says she was given it in either 1993 or 94, brand new but could have possibly been older stock. She also says it was black plastic and had a radio tuner. I was wondering if there's a list online with every Walkman model ever produced that I could look at to try to find her's. So far all the lists I've found are incomplete or only focus on certain models

Iconic Sony Walkman designs from yesteryear: Looking back at classic devices
February 22, 2023 - As Sony started to make more and more CD players in the Walkman range, it got closer to the sort of model that became so recognisable in the 90s. The D-150 shows that off nicely, with a little window so you could see your disc spinning, and a tiny LCD screen to let you know track timing and number. ... Fast forward a few years into the 90s, though, and you can see the change in design principles clearly, with rounded edges all of a sudden very much in, and the body of the Discman as small as it's ever been.

May 6, 2024 - In 1983, Sony introduced the WM-10, a portable cassette player that was even smaller than the previous models, measuring just 25mm in thickness. As Walkman Central explains, “New techniques were required to achieve a worthwhile reduction in size.” Among the costs: the device was powered by a single AA battery, which meant that it could only last for around 3 hours.
