July 30, 2018 - Me too! That thing sounded amazing but had a major design flaw - unlike the Sony the aiwa was a regular Walkman with a waterproof case. So guess how much fun you had pulling it in and out of the waterproof case to change a tape! And you had to unplug the headphones before you could remove said case, thus encouraging the quick degradation of the headphone port.

September 21, 2016 - It was told to me by my boss at the time, a product design guy and IDEO alumni, as I was walking out the door to the San Francisco subway system to do what would now commonly be called “customer development”. The story of the yellow Walkman is a cautionary tale, though I nevertheless went on to make most of the mistakes this post cautions you to avoid (not to worry, dear reader- I added some surefire tips at the end). January 9, 2025 - I have one from Sony, years agoo…but it was grey, not lovely yellow like that :)…yeaah, it was really cool to have one at that time… ...
