Hi
Trying to understand the correct pricing for these Sophos products - looks like we are being quoted a very high quote.
MDR user - 226.64 CAD/per user - https://www.cdw.ca/product/sophos-central-managed-detection-and-response-complete-subscription-licen/7269492?pfm=srh
MDR Server - 295.40 CAD/per server - https://www.cdw.ca/product/sophos-central-managed-detection-and-response-complete-server-subscriptio/7261200

Also does the MDR quote for server is higher than the same thing for users - I understand windows server licensing works like this but how does this make sense for MDR which is basically the same service for user or server!
This quote is from CDW and from some reading here I see that they can be very expensive and their sales guys are being super aggressive and annoying with the whole "50% off if you renew in 2 days" type of language, which I really do not appreciate lol.
Logically it would make more sense to price users higher because there is a higher chance of users clicking something and getting infected which then triggers the MDR team - but I guess they just rely on people's false illusions that the word "server" sounds more complex and "servers do things" so we are going to just price server higher lol.
PS:
Also, what do you think about Sophos vs huntress or any other solution? I am curious to know both performance wise and the cost but mainly performance! I keep reading about how much everyone fanboys huntress here!
Last year, we purchased a Sophos XGS with Standard Protection. We are about to renew our subscription but I was surprised to see the cost has almost doubled from what it was last year.
I questioned the sales rep about this and initially, she told me it’s because of the forex rates. But I had a hard time believing that so I showed her the cost of the same subscription they sent me last year, and asked her if the current forex rates could really make this much difference. She then told me someone from their office already noticed the big difference in pricing and already raised this concern to Sophos, but Sophos didn’t change it. She said they will contact Sophos again about it and give me their feedback.
Did Sophos have any massive price increase? Or did the reseller trying to charge us much higher than what Sophos gave them?
I was also thinking if the sales rep who we purchased it from intentionally adjusted the pricing in the proposal she sent me just to get an edge over Fortinet’s. Total cost of the appliance and the subscription for the first year was about the same for both. However, when looking at the breakdown, Fortinet had a cheaper price for the appliance but more expensive annual subscription.

As a reseller, we are often given offers to grant special pricing to beat out a competitor product if we bring it to our rep and they go to bat for us with management. Which Sophos XGS unit do you have? Are you sure they are giving you “Standard” and not “XStream” subscription pricing?
I’m trying to understand managed services pricing for a small company (<150 people). The range is too wide going from $2.78 to $250 per endpoint per month (see list below). I know they are not the same, but lines have become very blurred between MXDR, SOCaaS, MSSP, etc. I’m trying to understand who pays $2.78 and who pays $250 and what is the main difference between what they get in exchange. Everyone seems to offer 24/7 detection and response services which to me seems the most expensive component.
· Cpcyber MSSP: $75-250/endpoint/month[1]
· Armor Anywhere: $158/endpoint/month[2] (Pricing per hour)
· Artic Wolf MDR: $120/endpoint/month[3]. (@100 endpoints)
· Sophos XDR: $108.73/endpoint/month[4] (Pricing per endpoint)
· Bitlyft: SOCaaS $22.99/endpoint/month[5]
· Expel MDR: $15/endpoint/month [6] (@500 endpoints)
· InSoc SOCaaS: $11/endpoint/month[7] (@100 endpoints)
· Coro: MDR $10/endpoint/month[8]
· Deepwatch MEDR: $8.10 @1000 endpoints[9]
· Fortinet FortiEDR with MDR: $2.78/endpoint/month[10] (@25 endpoints)
