Not only can you listen to the right pronunciation according to most dictionaries, you can also record your own version to compare. The first version of the app has pronunciation of the sounds of American English only, but download the app even if you're after British English - we are going to add these sounds very soon!
I'm Looking pronunciation app that detects mistakes at the phone (individual sound) level and gives precise feedback to help you improve, . I'd love to hear more about what you're found for in a pronunciation app, are there any particular solution ?
I’m looking for the same thing. There’s a phone app called Pronounce. The free iOS version I’m using lets you choose between British and American English. You choose a language, speak into the mic on your phone in that language and the app writes what it thinks you just said. It still needs work, but I’m finding it useful for fine tuning my French pronunciation. You can also have short conversations with ChatGPT. I just had one in French, but reached the allowed limit because I’m using the free version so didn’t have enough time to investigate further. It already can correct my grammar. Stay tuned because I think it will handle pronunciation soon. More on reddit.com
Is there any good Pronunciation assists online to help with sounds that are not common in English?
Any decent language learning app shouldnhave sounds you can attempt to mimic. If you learn to read phonetics, you can use phonetic guides. As for 'kv', it likely varies dependent on what dialect you're learning, but in mine, at least, you just transition very quickly from the k to the v. If you can say "akevitt" fast, try removing the 'e', and instead of saying the word as 'ak-vitt', try to say it as 'akvitt'. When you can make the 'kv' sound in the middle, you can do it at the start of a word, too. Not a language expert. Hope this helps, though :) More on reddit.com
