A big hurdle in my organizational life has been not knowing what to do with old files and folders. I have a lot of old work and other documents just lying around in my room, and the pile keeps getting bigger, but I'm not 100% sure which route to go for storing and organizing them.
The only thought that immediately comes to mind is a metal filing cabinet, but that just feels a little cold and out-of-place in my bedroom. While I'm willing to bite the bullet and go with it if it's the best choice, I first wanted to ask if any of you had any thoughts on the matter? Recommendations? Alternatives?
Thanks!
Depending on how much paper you have, a plastic file box with sealed lid is cheap, stacks well, and can prevent damage to the paper if you're storing it for long periods of time or in a garage or attic space. I started withe two plastic file boxes while renting and bought a wood file cabinet when we bought our house.
Did you know that two metal file cabinets fit very nicely into a beautiful armoire?
Measure first because not all do, but many do. Modern, Mid-Century modern, Antique, whatever you like, there is an armoire for you.
Plus you can store other stuff in there too. Put a drop down desk on the door.
You can also scan them but make sure they are OCR scanned (most are, but some aren't) Optical Character Recognition.
