Is voice dictation accurate on iPhone?
Can I edit text after using dictation on iPhone?
How do I use dictation on my iPhone?
Hi, one feature I use ALOT is siri speech to text, for writing emails to google searches to WhatsApp.
The accuracy is not good and in the last two years I have found myself using the chatgpt app so it accurately transcribes what I say, and then pasting that wherever I need it.
Does the speech to text in iOS 18.1 improved or is it the same old one? I assume it is, but this is literally the only reason I would get a new phone, if this AI improved feature exists.
Is there any way to tweak dictation settings in the iOS (I mean the feature where you press the microphone on the keyboard to enable voice-to-text). As best I can tell there is no where to configure any options for this except maybe which dictionaries it uses.
With recent updates it likes to put commas and periods in automatically, often in the wrong place. I used to simply speak the punctuation marks I wanted which worked fine. I would definitely opt out of that if I could. The new always on feature is pretty annoying as well.
An old problem I still have is that any time I say "network" it gives me "Netwerk". I mean... really? As best as I can tell this isn't even a real term used anywhere except maybe in Swedish. Maybe I can get rid of one of the dictionaries to fix that...
Are there any voice commands for power users that might be helpful? Or tips and tricks? It's not a command exactly, but if you speak a punctuation mark name in the right context it will either insert the mark or possibly spell the words out. If you speak a long number it will give you numerals (where as if you use a common shorthand like "twenty-three" "twenty-three" instead of 2323 you'll get something nonsensible like 23, 23 or maybe the numbers spelled out.
