I am considering Speed Queen Washer TR7 to replace a broken washer. I learned about Speed Queen just last week that they are the best when I started shopping.

Turns out they have changed the cycle and now they have the classic models (TC) and the new perfect Wash (TR). I understand the new TR series is gentler on clothes and the old one is better for tough jobs (and could cause more wear and tear on clothes).

My question is, due to the new design ( TR7003WN in particularly), it is still the best choice against other competitors in terms of doing cleaning job?

I have broken washer and need to make a decision ASAP. Thank you,

I've had my TR7 for a few months and love it. I initially orfered the TC5, but changed my order. The reason I changed it was because the TC5 only had half full and full tub and I wanted more options. The TR7 was redone in 2019 and 2021. It is the best washer I've ever owned. I use the heavy duty cycle for most loads and have learned to trust the autofill. I'm glad I have manual options, too. I have a bunch of kids and they get messy and this thing handles it all like a champ. I do pretreat stains before I put them in, when I notice, and use quality laundry soap. My favorite feature is that I can set long soak cycles. I can put a thing of whites in oxi-clean white and let them soak all night and they're ready for the dryer in the morning. The capacity is surprisingly big. It has no problem with my queen comforter. In fact, I kept my dryer and it's supposedly larger capacity, but it won't fit everything the washing machine will. https://youtu.be/MDkqMY_nv0g

If you do Speed Queen, do the TC5 - We own a TR5 (different style control panel than TR7, but same wash action) and have had numerous problems with it (Multiple times we have had to replace these 3 items: Upper control board / Drive control board / Lid lock. It washes clothes just fine (when it actually works), but the amount of time it has been out of commission over a 2 year period for an ongoing continuation of the 3 mentioned parts failing and needing to be replaced is completely unaccceptable. The TC5 doesn't have a lid lock (which 1 of the repair techs told us is a thorn in SQ's side where failure points are concerned - a statement that rings true, since 1 of the times it broke, the lid lock shorted out and the short ruined the drive board at the same time.) The one we owned before was an older Speed Queen that actually lived up to the praise often given to them - difference being, no lid lock, and old school electromechanical dial controls.
