I've linked them washer and dryer below (the TC5 washer and DC5 dryer) and obviously time will tell if they're really "worth it" in terms of dependability and problems that may arise. They did come with a great warranty from the manufacturer and every repair and sales person that I talked to said that they have either never or rarely seen one have to be repaired. In my IG messages I had DOZENS of people who told me that either they or a relative/friend had had speed queens for years without a single problem.

April 20, 2017 - Their flagship unit, this is the fully loaded top load washer. Speed Queen is immortalized with their legendary build quality. This is the one thing that NOBODY can argue. It comes with a standard 5 year warranty, which covers parts and in home labor. Their failure rate is really, really low.

November 27, 2019 - But even on the wettest, hottest, most vigorous setting that the TC5 offers—the Heavy Duty cycle with Hot water and Deep Fill selected, which uses about 50 gallons of water total to wash and rinse, almost half of which comes straight from the hot-water tap—it wasn’t any better than our favorite front-loader on its Normal cycle, which uses about a quarter of the total water and a small fraction of the hot water. The stronger Speed Queen cycles also caused quite a bit of fraying damage, as we expected from a washer with such a strong agitator. Other reviewers have found similar results with the TC5 and older versions of the same washer.

The Normal ECO cycle was designed to meet federal water usage requirements and as such it's a very different wash from what Speed Queen is known for. To get a "traditional" wash like the washers of yore, you should probably avoid the Normal ECO cycle. The Normal ECO cycle may work just fine for light soils, though. It's worth noting that for 2020, adding the Heavy Soil option to the Normal Eco cycle ("Max soil" on the TR7) results in an improved multi-temperature wash for fighting stains.

October 27, 2025 - Most speed queen service calls can literally be resolved by unplugging it and plugging it back in. More over the 7 years warranty and the commercial quality of this washer and dryer set makes them damn near bullet proof.

April 17, 2025 - I can put as many clothes in the washer as I put in my old Maytag, and they come out quicker and cleaner. I will be well satisfied if it continues to perform like it is performing now. My washer repairman told me to get a Speed Queen if I never wanted to see him again. I looked at reviews, and am glad I did!

I have to agree. Consumer Reports have various LG washers clustered at the top with top scores of 87, Speed Queen top score of 84. LG dryers top list at 89, Speed Queen 74. To be honest, I only looked at front load washers and dryers. No idea about top loaders ratings.

I sold my house in 2020 after I got married in 2018. The neighbor who bought it for a rental kept the 1986 Kenmore HD washer and gas dryer and the tenant is still using them. I miss Sears. In all the years I owned that set the only repair was belt tensioner on the dryer. It only squeaked during the winter when it was really cold. I replaced the belt while I had it apart. ... Team Speed Queen here if you're planning to use for the next decade plus: 1) Machines are designed with a 10,000+ load lifecycle 2) Machines are well built and easy to service should anything go wrong 3) Consumer Reports has historically done buyers a disservice by ranking washers on their default cycle's capabilities against heavy soil and their efficiency and ignoring normal cycle time and cleaning ability on max cycle.

June 30, 2020 - The Speed Queen TR5000WN AWN63RSN115TW01 is a top-loading washer with pole agitator. It has the looks and build of an older model but is much gentler.

That was 2018 or 2019, I think? Here we are again. I hate the Electrolux with a blinding passion at the moment.
