My husband and I just purchased our split king hybrid memory foam set up, but we need a bed frame.
We both like wood frames (lean towards simple, low styles), but he seems unconcerned about the quality, more about the price. If I had my way, I would buy a Thuma, but it's a bit out of the budget. In the long run I we want a headboard but could live without it for now.
I guess my main concern is with our new split king set up I want to make sure both mattresses are supported.
He loved this one (Acacia Emery Solid Wood), but I'm worried it's going to be a POS:

I've been looking at Thuma for a split king too, the only thing other than that which caught my attention was the Wright Bedding steel frame and their modular foundation. It's like a box spring style slat box which can be assembled and dissembled to place on a normal frame. That would allow for a lot of head board options. As for the Emery, based on the customer photos it looks like it has too few slats. I remember reading that you want only an inch of gap between each slat which maximizes support while maintaining breathability. You could add a couple slats and get better spacing. But as for whether the frame is good or not, it's going to come down to how it's joined and I can't tell how that's done.

Is there any reason I can’t simply put a split king (or two twin xl) mattress on my existing king bed frame? My issue is motion transfer from my partner- I’m such a light sleeper their every move wakes me. Everything I am reading is always about the adjustable bed frame, so just wondering if the group has any words of wisdom! TIA!

A split king or two XL mattresses will work just fine on a king frame. But you might not get the motion isolation that you're after. If the two split halves touch, they'll transfer at least some motion. If you have a bed frame with a physical barrier in the center, that would work. Also, some types of materials are more isolating than others.

I'm about 5 months into my split king experiment. I still get some motion transfer, must be through the frame although I haven't tried separating them to account for mattress bulging.. I've got each wrapped individually in old queen mattress protectors and then a king sized sheet set over all. - had to get extra corner straps for deeper pockets. Our mattresses are different and I've got a 3 inch latex on top of mine.
