Basic plans aren’t available for Premium Student and Duo/Family plan members. When Premium Family/Duo managers switch to the Basic subscription, their existing plan members automatically carry over to the Basic plan. I just got done with a hour long chat with support. I'm trying to switch our Premium Duo plan to a Basic Family Plan so I can add our kids and opt for a plan that doesn't include audio books to save money. After an hour between two people, they told me I can't "downgrade" my account to a Basic Family Plan.
Is anyone else dealing with this bullshit? I've been a premium subscriber for over ten years and I haven't complained even though podcasts and audiobooks have been forced on my subscription while fees continue to rise.
After all my loyalty, this may be the breaking point.
And they also told me there's no way to contact them via phone. I wanted to escalate my request. Does anyone know how to reach support via phonecall?

Just try canceling and resubscribing later ! Like that you are not downgrading - you are subscribing - may be it will work.

I changed my subscription from a premium individual to basic individual this morning no problem, I didn't see an option for basic on either duo or family plans only premium. Maybe you can only downgrade to a basic plan when you're account is a premium of that type?

Is this not insane to anybody else? I have been trying for the last couple of days to change to the basic spotify family plan from the premium spotify plan so I dont have to pay for audiobooks I dont use. But apparently if you change your subscription after June 20th, youre not allowed to have the basic plan?? After searching online theres no solution to this either
I love spotify and have been using it for 5+ years at this point but this is crazy to me

Wait so is the problem that it’s specifically the family premium that can’t be changed to basic right away? Also, what’s the significance of June 20 - is that when you signed up for this current plan?

Hi, received email announcing UK price increase this morning and wanted to switch from my Premium Individual to Basic Individual as I don’t need audiobooks, but the option doesn’t seem available to me. Allegedly, it should be possible to go from Premium version to Basic version - does anybody know why I’m apparently not eligible? Thanks!!
