July 30, 2021 - The ChromeOS player has worked in the past couple weeks (can't remember exacly when I last used it). EDIT: A better repro is to go to https://www.spotify.com/us/ and click "Open Web Player". Same error message as above. ... This also is an issue for me. Attempting to use the webplayer on a chromebook, and I get a black screen and the same error in chrome's network console. This chromebook does not have access to android apps, so the web player is the only way to access spotify, which now does not work.

The problem was that I blocked the following URL: spclient.wg.spotify.com Apparently spotify web browser now relies on it, so if you block in your hosts file, pihole, firewall or whatever this is the reason your spotify web player is not loading.

My account is perfectly working at my parent's house using Spotify Web Player from there on Windows 7. What is working here: Spotify Android app on Samsung S6, S7 Edge, Tab S4, Spotify desktop app from Macbook Pro 2014. Even Deezer web player is perfectly working.. The attempts I've made until now: Use all OSX browsers (Opera, Firefox, Safari, Chrome), uninstalled and reinstalled them, create a new computer user with brand-new settings, switch between 3 different network here even via router from mobile, uninstalled ad blocker, grant full web access to Spotify sites.
