So I’ve been going over datacamp and have completed the intermediate sql and the course on Joins etc but recently I tried taking a test for a product firm that required SQL and most of the questions were on joins but I just scored a 12/22. Additionally I am trying to solve the intermediate questions on hackerank related to SQL and I am failing to do so. The basic ones were pretty easy.

I am wondering what resources I should look at to relearn SQL or maybe datacamp gets better as I progress? Idk. So far it seems to gloss over a lot of concepts but there is a lack of application. Or maybe I’m not very good at this and should just stick to corporate finance :/

You've described taking two of the available 32 courses. 12/22 is an exceptionally good outcome for 8 hours of training. The name intermediate might be misleading given that it is very much a fundamental course but you're still v much a beginner. I am also a beginner, even at taking Data Manipulation in SQL and two courses on PostgreSQL. Consider sticking to the end of a learning path (I.e., SQL Fundamentals, Data Analyst in SQL) in DataCamp before making a switch. Also, use the other one concurrently so you're confident it will better meet your needs. The path of least resistance when hopping around is to just stop For me, the pursuit of the perfect learning tool has been by far the biggest barrier to progress. I explore other resources

You might want to try the free SQL course from Udacity (I think it's called SQL for Data Analysis) which felt fairly solid to me. However do not under any circumstances get lured in by the paid courses or "nanodegrees". Most of their paid content is free under different course names or outdated.

Datacamp for SQL?

I think they always have a sale, lol. But I learned sql there, pretty good lessons and you can use their datasets in their workbench to practice as well as a few “projects”. All in all, would recommend but also if you practice concepts a lot on your own in addition to lessons More on reddit.com

DataCamp certifications are a joke and a waste of time

I knew nothing about data processing and learned enough on DataCamp to get a promotion and a bunch of new, more exciting responsibilities at my job. It wouldn’t have been enough to get me a DA role at a new organization but it was enough to impress my boss. I think it’s fine for a beginner trying to expand their skills but anyone who wants a career in data should get a degree. More on reddit.com
