For a month I have been trying chairs are different price points to fit my daily use. First I use a standing desk and enjoy standing for the 70-80% on the weekdays. I still need to sit from time to time, and when I read I enjoy sitting down for long hours (5+ hours).
I landed at the Staples Carder for 100 dollars because it hit a few of my check marks. I wanted a fabric seat instead of mesh or embody/kinn plastic material. I tried mesh seats with the only one I enjoyed sitting on was the aeron. I wanted to adjust/lock my back tilt since I know the angle I like to sit at which is mostly upright without force pushing me forward. The arm rests must fit under my desk as I am often pushed up right against my desk with my stomach touching. My vision is not perfect so I want to move myself forward without moving my monitor back and forth.
How did the Carder fit into my checklist? It got most of the things I wanted with my own adjustments. The arms are not required for the chair which is great, I don't use them anyways. The adjustments are enough for my needs though here is a interesting note. The tilt strength adjustment is for the seat tilt, not the back tilt. That means you are not adjust how easy it is to push back against the back support, its how easy it is to rock your seat. I left the seat cushion last in this review since it is pretty terrible, though I am going to reach out to staples to get a replacement. The outer edge of the cushion is plush and bounces back. The center just sinks and doesn't bounce back. So after a while you are sitting on a solid surface. The wheel casters are also not easy to roll around, though I am not much of a roller.
Unexpectedly, here are a few things that are not mentioned on the details page on staples. You can adjust by sliding the back of the chair up and down. This will adjust if you like lumbar support on the lower part of your back or higher. You cannot adjust the tension of the lumbar and at the beginning you will notice it there. After a few hours not so much, and I like a lot of lumbar support, so I added an additional towel between the lumbar and the metal bracket in order to decrease the distance the lumbar has to depress.
Overall I would recommend the chair for 100 dollars. It is not worth more than this sale price. I am going to try and add reviews for the other chairs I tried this month and I think this is the chair I am most likely to keep.

Im 6’0” and 175lbs for reference.
I know a used HM or Steelcase would be better value but unfortunately there is nothing like that nearby, it’d have to involve a lengthy 4-5 hour drive there, and another 4-5 drive back for something like that.
Curious if the Ayalon is worth the extra bit more, and considering the warranty of both. I believe the Carder would go through Staples but the Ayalon would have to go through Workplace and the warranty seemed a bit different, and I couldn’t find any review on their customer service. If I can just go through staples though then this part is redundant lol.
My budget is around $300 and these two seemed the best for that budget. Ive watched quite a few videos from Ahnestly and BTODtv and done other research on multiple threads here, it seems the Ayalon is sort of under-appreciated/overlooked?
I did look at some Colamy chairs but heard things about them being unreliable in customer service. Seen a few things about Sihoo, and the few things I did find regarding customer service, weren’t necessarily good neither.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks everyone! 🙂
By affordable, I'm looking at the Dexley, Hyken, Kroy. Thoughts on these? Or anything else in that range? I guess I might be convinced to go a little higher in price if there's something great just above but preferably want to stay in this range
I don't think I'm a fan of headrests so I'm leaning towards the Kroy. Dexley & Hyken only has versions with the headrest? Are they removeable?
I'm 6'1, lean build if that matters
Thanks
Looking to pick up a new office chair. Been rocking a staples carder chair for the last decade and it is ready to be thrown away.
I tried out some chairs at staples and really like the Ayalon, but its out of my budget; the clatina clones look like they have a similar feel. I tried out the lazyboy too and that felt decent enough for my liking. These are the chairs ive narrowed my choices down to with a budget of ~$200

I know this sub would usually recommend to save up and get something better, but I’m on a budget rn. Stuck between these two chairs from Staples. Any one have them and can give a review / recommendation? Thank you!
Currently Im in desperate need of a new desk chair as the one I have is mad old and mad uncomfortable. I went to try a few at office depot and staples and found that I did enjoy the staples hyken but also enjoyed chairs with a firm ish cushion. I was honestly thinking of just getting a mesh chair and buying a cushion that i can use when I want a lil plush feeling. While ive looked at other chairs, I cannot decide on what to get. I know many people don't like leg rests but as someone with chronic pain its something that I need, so any recommendations for chairs with similar support to the hyken but have a leg rest? My budget is around 250~ but I would really like to stay under it. Also for reference im around 5'7" :3 I also thought about maybe getting the Hbada E2?
I have a $100-150 budget for an office chair as mine is falling apart.
The models on the website all have mixed reviews.
I highly recommend the Torrent. It has no problem withstanding weight up to 100 pounds over the recommended maximum weight with no damage to the gas lift, and the convertible arms mean ease of use for those massive customers who can hardly get to the furniture pad without getting sweaty, hungry, or both.
I've had the Osgood for over a year now and it looks the same as it did the day I put it together. Very comfortable too.
DISAPPOINTED. I sat in every chair they offered. I cannot believe how poor the quality of these chairs are. The Hyken, Tempurpedic, Dexley, Kroy and so on...They are just plain junk for the $$$ they charge. I was interested in the Hyken so that's why I went there and I was disappointed by its cheap plastic construction, misaligned parts and cheap feeling mesh. The Tempur-pedic TP9000 was just ok but not nearly worth the asking price. Do yourself a favor and go sit in these chairs before you order one. It will be a heartbreaker for sure when it shows up.
These are my opinions. I come from the "Buy Once, Cry Once" camp. I understand that everyone has a different budget and use case. Moral of the story is to try your best to try a chair before buying it.
$150 is my budget and I think this is the best bet for me. 5’4 220 US-FL. Only shipping. Don’t really care about arm or head rests I can go without em completely. Just need something for posture and to sit on for 6-8 hours a day without it breaking.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it seems like my Staples office chair slopes downward. It almost feels like I am going to slide off when I sit down, and I don't know how to fix this as I have lost the manual. Any help would be appreciated. It was not like this when I got it.
Edit: chair
I have this same damn chair with the same problem. I'm constantly finding myself on the edge.
I suppose you are able to lean back and achieve the seat angle you prefer. I'd look under the chair and observe what moves when you do that. Look for a place you could add a wedge or shim. Maybe a screw checked in to the mechanism. You do have an adjustment for the tilt back spring. It could be that you have that adjusted too loose so every time you sit in the chair it leans forward. That would explain why the chair looks level in the picture, yet you feel sloped when seated.
My old chair is on its last legs so I need something worthwhile. I spend a lot of time working and gaming on my computer so I need something durable and comfortable. I'm a 5'5" 210 lb dude.
I've looked at/been thinking about:
DX Racer Origin Series

Staples Carder
https://www.staples.com/Staples-Carder-Mesh-Office-Chair-Black/product_136815
Staples Hyken

IKEA MARKUS
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00103102/
I have had the Hyken for two years.
I removed the headrest (I'm 6'1", 240lb.). The mesh has held up great, better than I though it would. There's no sag in the seat or anything. I'm a big fan of mesh seats, and the Hyken appears to be the only one on your list that has one.
This chair goes on sale fairly often, it seems to be a good value. I'm happy with mine.
For comparison; I sit in an $800 Allsteel at work that feels more solid, but it's only a little more comfortable. Considering the price, I would go with the Hyken, you're not giving up much.
I wouldn't recommend the lower tier dx racer, significantly lower quality and comfort. It's just not worth the cost. The ikea markus is probably the most comfortable out of the 4 choices, but it seems to fit those who are 5'7" or taller better. Because the head rest are abit high and non adjustable.
So for your height out of the 4 staples hyken is probably your best bet.
Hey all, Ahnestly here! I review chairs on YouTube and after collecting comments from my community mixed w/ my own personal opinion, I create an annual ultimate chair buying guide video for every budget and height (currently has a 99.3% like ratio, which is insane!). The mods have allowed me to link the video below, but it is NOT mandatory to watch. I'll list out the chairs first and link will be at the bottom for anyone who cares to watch that.
Preliminary notes: People wonder why companies don't make chairs for really short or really tall people. I wish I could show you guys my video's analytics...the vast majority of time watched occurs in the average height section. These companies are out here to make a profit, and sometimes that means targeting the majority, not the minority. Please keep that in mind as you will see a lot of overlap with these chairs.

No real reason. Just saw another post on here, and now I’m curious
The title pretty much explains itself. I might want to buy a new office chair:)
I use a DxRacer Racing because I'm a gullible idiot. It's expensive, uncomfortable and has shit build quality.
Seriously, it's a $300 chair with uneven seams, squeaky frame and loose armrests. Last time I ever buy anything labelled as "gaming", regardless of how much the reviews praise it.
Ikea Markus. Best price / performance ratio.
Hey, just moved into a new place and am trying to get a new office chair.
Looking for $100~200 range.
prefer somewhere I can order online
As you can tell, I don't know much about chairs.
