Should I return this laptop? My current laptop has blue screen issues but this stopped recently. Not sure if it would continue having issues, hence I'm still holding onto my 16 gb ram, 16 in laptop i7 Lenovo from staples. I got it from Black Friday Sale so if I return it and my current laptop has issues, I would have to buy a new laptop that would cost a lot more than $580 (not 550*)

That’s a good one. Pretty sure I bought similar ones in abyssal blue color for my work. They were around the same price straight from lenovo website. I think you got a good deal. For a little more you could have gotten a gaming laptop, but it’d be a cheap ass gaming laptop with a cheap body. At least the lenovo is solid and pretty nice in quality

I want to upgrade to be able to do some mid-level gaming. Staples has a really good deal on an HP right now (i5 processor, 12gb memory, 256 gb ram); are they okay to buy from? I think of them more as an office supplies/furniture store.

12 GB RAM is a very unusual amount, probably it's 16 and they allocate 4 GB to the iGPU. Talking about the iGPU (the Intel UHD Graphics 730) - this is not suitable for mid-level gaming. You need to buy a videocard for that, that'll cost you at least $100 for an old second hand, or $300 for a new one (this will be on the lower end of 'mid-level gaming')
