Staples Hyken at $180 still a good buy in 2023?
For the love of god do not buy a cheap mesh seat like the Hyken. Better for around $200 would be the Ticova Ergonomic Chair or the Clatina Mellet (or Costway version). For $400 go for a Hon Ignition 2.0 More on reddit.com
Bought the staples hyken pro god or bad option compared to the regular hyken
I come back from the future and I bring news... The lumbar support has 3 levels that you can roll in a little adjustable cylindrical leaver behind the seat. The seat is comfortable... But not 8 hours + comfortable... Its semi firm good if you have the good habit of not sliding in the chair and you keep your ass in the chair all time... If you want to slide or move around... It will punish you for it. It has 3 levels for reclining that once lock in position they will not move even if you unlock it. You need to unlock then push beyond the locking spot in order to return to natural position. The arm rest.... Its too wide... Like proper gamer guy from South Park... They are from a dense cushion material and plasticky pleather material... A little sticky if you sweat even a little. The mesh is breathable and it has 2 or 3 clicks if you are fully pressed to the backrest and twist to one side. Returning for a moment to the arm rests... They are too small they can slide back and forth, they can pivot from the attaching point like....... / l \ l / ..... But the furthest back is not enough to get comfortable if you are not big enough. I'm 5'9 - 5'10 and last time I weighted myself... 160 to 166 pounds... And I need to be concious of where I put my elbows.... If you have pets who loves to get pets while you are sitting in the chair... You can just lower your arm and nothing will obstruct your path. Like i would say its at least a 2 to 5 inches gap between where you stop touching backseat and start touching arm rest .... Lastly... The headrest has up down and pivot up and down.... But the 2.extremes make you hit hard frame so you only have like 70 to 80% of headrest mobility and usability. Sometimes it embraces your head in such a way that it presses on the veins in the back of your head/neck area and you can feel your circulation tingling... But its like an specific spot and I'm guessing its because the mesh is brand new so its ultra tight in those places. I'll keep testing it out.... I'll comment again in 1 month. More on reddit.com
Staples Hyken Pro - First impressions
Thanks for posting! I just got mine a couple of days ago and want to contribute my experience as well. Agree with your points, especially about the armrests being a bit wide. I’ve found tilting them has helped improve comfort depending on if I’m typing or holding a controller. I did find that the tilting on mine takes quite a bit of force and makes a loud annoying noise. The left armrest is much squeakier than the right one when tilting. I wish the headrest swivel had more tension so that when I lean my head back, it doesn’t tilt back down so easily. My only other complaint is I would like the tension on the recline to be stiffer; I can hold a recline at the highest setting, but I have to engage my core a bit to keep from going all the way back. But the preset recline lock position is at a decent angle for me. I’m also about 235 so that tension may be fine for someone lighter. I do like this chair much more than the dexley I had previously. thoughts on Staples Hyken Ergonomic Mesh Swivel Task Chair?
I have this one! Have had it for about 4-5 years I think, and the only problem I've had with it is that the foam padding on the seat keeps falling out after some time, making the seat mesh loose. That's an easy fix with some glue, though. Other than that, it's a very nice chair for the price and I'd recommend it More on reddit.com

This chair must have just been released a few weeks ago, can't even find a review on Youtube. All the staples website reviews seem to be customers that were given the product for free, so I don't trust any of them. Anyways, I just bought one on a pretty crazy sale (which is still ongoing in anyone's curious, 47% off MSRP and an additional 10-15 off if it's your first order with Staples or you're registering an email/phone number for the first time) - https://www.staples.com/staples-hyken-pro-ergonomic-mesh-swivel-task-chair-black-st63228/product_24622702 I was using the Autonomous Ergochair 2 (not even the "pro" which seems to be the exact same chair I had.) for almost 6 years, and honestly it held up great, not much negative to say about it, it's just naturally wobbly and a bit stiff/uncomfortable. To me this is far more comfortable and offers better lumbar support than just a cushion you can move up and down poking through the back mesh. I used the tips OP mentioned to adjust height and lock the recliner, everything seems to be perfect, no complaints. Very comfortable (for reference I'm 6'1'' and about 220 pounds.) It was the main reason why I was so hesitant to pick up the standard Hyken, it seemed fairly small and people said the head rest was virtually useless unless you were 5'5'' or potentially even shorter. I highly recommend picking one up on sale and also add these wheels, they have sealed bearings and roll incredibly smooth! https://www.amazon.com/ATOMDOC-Lightweight-Revolutionary-Protection-Including/dp/B07V3HMLKT/

r/OfficeChairs on Reddit: Staples Hyken at $180 still a good buy in 2023?

Hi,
Is there any chairs under $200 USD worth it? I'm looking at the Staples Hyken.
Is Markus at Ikea worth the $400 price tag? Thanks

No, personally, I dislike the Hyken, and I regret recommending it to others. I fell for the Reddit hype where a lot of people recommended it. Unless you are a lighter individual, then it is okay at best. The mesh is not that good, and based on my experience and other peoples' testimonies, it is prone to sagging. I have sat in a Chinese Amazon chair with a better mesh. Of course, the Hyken is still an acceptable chair which I am sure will get the job done if you must buy a new chair for less than $200. The Ikea Markus is not worth $400 either IMO, but I have heard it is surprisingly decent? I do not have experience with it so I can not say for certain. I am also unsure where you are getting $400 from since I see it being sold for $289. Instead of these chairs, many people would recommend the used or refurbished route. Checkout your local Facebook Marketplace for used chairs. Or checkout Crandall Office Furniture and BTOD for refurbished. Maybe even Madison Seating , but they are not as reputable. EDIT: I also do not completely agree with people recommending TICOVA and CLATINA. I don't trust their warranties, but I guess you could try them out.
