Hey guys,
So I am in need of an enameled dutch oven in the 5.5qt range. I am very much in love with the offerings of both Le Creuset and Staub, but I really shouldn't spend that kinda money right now haha!
The only other decent one I've seen is from Lodge. I've got a lot of lodge stuff. Love my older skillets, don't care for the modern offerings, don't love the fact that the dutch ovens are made in china and a lot of people on amazon are having chipping issues.
I'm kinda stuck. I typically like to take a BIFL approach, but damn those French ones are pricey!
Is this a good deal for a VI in Basil from the Zwilling Black Friday sale? Wondering if I should grab it now or wait and get it cheaper in a later sale. Hoping to get a 7qt for around $150 like people on here said they’ve gotten them for, but I’d be happy with 5.5. Do you think I should wait for a better deal?
Looking for soups, pastas, stews for 2 people. I like to meal prep and often use my 6qt Instant Pot but looking for DO for bypassing some of the drawbacks with the IP such as the wait time for pressure...
Anyone have both? Eventually planning on a 2nd larger DO for larger groups.
I currently own 5.5qt and 7qt Staub Dutch Ovens, which I use frequently for cooking for 4–6 people. These sizes work great, and I don’t see a need for anything larger than 7qt. However, I occasionally cook for just myself or 1–2 people with leftovers in mind, which has me considering a smaller 2.75qt or 4qt Dutch oven.
I’m hesitant, though, as I want to avoid redundant cookware and wonder if a smaller size would add meaningful versatility. For those with multiple Dutch oven sizes, do you find a smaller one useful for specific tasks? Any advice on whether a 2.75qt or 4qt would complement my current setup or just clutter my kitchen? Thanks for your insights!
I see the 5qt tall is discounted at most retailers.
Also looking for a braiser with cast iron lid (not glass), and those too seem to be full price.
