I currently own a double handle skillet. I am in need of a braiser and while it would be nice to be able to afford a Chistera, I was thinking for now I would buy a Staub glass lid for the skillet and use it as a braiser.
Do you think this could work? If not, why would that be?

I was actually looking at getting the double handle skillet. I just wanted it in the 11inch because I have a deep 12 inch and a shallow 9 inch skillet. Staub only offers 13 and 10. I wrote to Staub to ask about it and they said they would escalate the question and never got back to me. lol. I don’t use the deep 12 inch skillet as a braiser because it has pour spouts so it won’t give me a good lid seal. From what I have seen the glass lid isn’t very durable. And Staub has the bumps on the underside of the cast iron lid to redistribute the moisture. And I would assume the cast iron lid holds the heat as a whole better because it’s cast iron vs glass. Especially in the oven. And gives you a tighter seal. It’s possible it could be used as a braiser if you could find a cast iron lid that would fit. I have read a braiser is good because of the sloped sides that gives you more surface area for browning. I wish I had a more definitive answer for you.
