This DIY fire pit was a fun family project that only took an afternoon to complete. We bought a galvanized steel ring, dug out the centre and then lined the outside with river rock we already had on our property. We used limestone screenings as a base for the river rock and then polymeric sand to fill the gaps between the rocks. My favourite part is the rocks that my daughter and I painted and I sealed with @rustoleumca @rustoleum clear coat. The fire won't hurt it, they usually fail from poor design. Thicker is better but if you keep it clean, not full of wet ashes and not in contact with the ground either a will last a long time More on reddit.com
