4 days ago - King asked a bookmobile driver, "Do you have any stories about how kids really are?" She gave him a copy of Lord of the Flies, which proved formative: "It was, so far as I can remember, the first book with hands—strong ones that reached out of the pages and seized me by the throat.
Are Stephen King's son's(Joe Hill and Owen King) stories as good or better, than their dad's?
Joe is great. Owen writes, too, I guess. More on reddit.com

I'm convinced Stephen King doesn't know anything about kids/teens anymore
You're not wrong but with the speed internet has caused slang to change I feel like trying to write accurate teen slang dialogue would make any book unreadable basically by the time it left the printers. IMO the best middle ground is to avoid slang basically entirely, and just try to manage writing era-specific youth through the topics they choose and their stances/reasoning. More on reddit.com
What is The Most "Kid Friendly" Novel Stephen King has Made
The Eyes of the Dragon is written in that "lemony narrator" style you find in old fairy tales, the gruesome moments are much more downplayed than in his other novels, as well as any sexual dealings. As far as King novels go, its pretty tame.

August 16, 2023 - His kids aren’t as good at all as he is. ... Very different from Dad, but pretty good imo. ... Just started my first Joe hill book, heart shaped box and I have to say, it’s already a roller coaster and I’m only 25% of the way in. So far I’m enjoying it very much 🤷♂️ ... Joe is great. I've never read anything that was strictly Owen, but if the book he wrote with Stephen (Sleeping Beauties) is any indication, then I would say no, he's not great.

Stephen King: ‘I loved Lord of the Flies the way kids love Harry Potter’ | Stephen King | The Guardian
October 11, 2024 - The book that made me want to be a writer Lord of the Flies: it was about kids, and I was a kid. The plot was simple and the descent into savagery was believable. I read it at the age of 12 – it was only later that I grasped the symbolism of the severed pig’s head and the sexual subtext.
