Yes, but I would go the AP route not the AK system. Stihl is good, but its also insanely more expensive than comparative (and more powerful) EGO products for example. STIHL claims to have a 'better battery' with up to 3000 charge cycles on the AP 500 s (Ego to my knowledge is 800-1200, but they dont list it publicly). They do have a few buy 2 batteries get 1 free promos going on, as well as some included in the 'new' AP kits if you buy one of those you also get an ap 300 S free. I've used the TSA 230 myself and its really nice. They do have a much larger one coming out as well. Answer from Praulf on reddit.com

Tested some Stihl battery powered products today | Outdoor Power Equipment Forum
November 10, 2016 - Our Stihl rep stopped by today and brought some of the new battery powered tools that will debut next spring. He had 2 hedge trimmers, a string trimmer, a chainsaw and a blower. The 36 volt battery will be good for 1000 full charges and will charge in about 30 minutes. He claimed the saw would...

r/stihl on Reddit: Are Stihl cordless tools worth investing?
August 18, 2024 -

So I am thinking of investing in the Stihl cordless range but I am already on the Milwaukee/Metabo platform and my primary question is whether I should take the plunge and invest in Stihl over the current platforms I have?

I have been looking at a lawnmower and the concrete disc cutter but it does mean investing in the batteries also which I noticed are an expense in of itself and could go a long way towards a new power tool!

Whilst I could go Milwaukee or Metabo I've not heard of great reviews for the gardening tools of either and I have been looking at the Makita XGT for the disc cutter + batteries which I could get the 305mm version for the same price as the Stihl tools and batteries.

Should point out I am a novice DIYer and planning on landscaping my garden next year so I really want to invest in quality tools and machinery but I've just never owned a Stihl before so I don't know if it is worth spending the extra or simply sticking to my existing platforms.

Any thoughts appreciated.

O.T. Cordless garden tools, who has them? What works goo
Cordless garden tools like blowers and string trimmers have become very popular. I bought a combo of a string trimmer and blower Ryobi 18v for my wife as she hates the 2 stroke versions we have. I already had a bunch of the Ryob batteries. She loves them and I will say they work pretty good. That said my older Stihl ... More on forums.yesterdaystractors.com

Gardeners, what is the best make of professional cordless power tools? I'm looking to maximise battery interoperability to keep costs down
I rate Makita. They partnered with a German garden machinery manufacturer before launching their own range and they're very practical as a result. I was disappointed to use the bosh lawnmower so would advise against but Sthil seem good too Makita is my recommendation More on reddit.com

Cordless Chainsaws, Are they worth it? If so, which is the best?
Arborist here; for homeowner type stuff they're great. If you can, I'd recommend going with whatever battery system you have now if it's a "good" brand (DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita etc). If you don't mind buying into a new battery system STIHL is excellent (honestly high end prosumer/light commercial), and Husqvarna is a close second. I've heard good things about Ego (though I haven't used one). "Off" brands like WORX and Black and Decker might be ok if you don't have to use them a whole bunch. I honestly wouldn't go with those, but I like any saw I buy to be a "oh shit all the saws are down" backup for work. More on reddit.com

August 3, 2015 - You'd think a sharp blade and a scissor action wouldn't be that hard to get right, but my Chinese brand petrol hedger is complete rubbish! Take a good look at the pole hedger from Stihl .. that and the pole pruner are the real show ponies that other cordless garden tool makers seem not have in their range.

Electric multi-head garden tool recommendations | Lawn Care Forum
I regularly mow, edge, trim, and prune, using 10 to 15-year-old tools that are reaching their reliability limits. On average, I do about 320 ft of edging and 150 ft of trimming per mow, along with seasonal pruning and other occasional maintenance tasks. I'm interested in upgrading to a battery-powered multi-head system for routine residential use. To start, I'm likely to buy the trimmer and edger attachments along with others later. Brands I've researched include EGO, Milwaukee, Stihl, DeWalt, Makita, and Ryobi.
