Uniqlo extra fine merino wool stuff. 100% wool but soft, machine washable, and doesn't fade. My oldest one is about 3 years old now and has barely pilled even though I wear it all the time (and I wash it after every wear too because I work in a healthcare setting). November 16, 2022Super soft fluffy sweaters-- how are they holding up?
Hi ! My oldest sweater with a fingering held together with a mohair-silk lace has been made 6 years ago. It is a staple in my wardrobe, and is worn at least once a week from november to march. It hasn't pilled, and isn't shedding noticeably (there is a few fibers here and there on the rest of my clothes, but not enough to be a bother), although the halo can ever so slightly clump together. Since it's wool, and I take the usual precautions with it (not worn directly against the skin, and not worn more than one day at once, so I can aerate it for at least 24 hours after), I can wash it once a year, by hand, which I generally do in the summer, so it can dry quickly. I use the opportunity to gently brush the mohair before storing it again, which give its fluff back to the halo. The fabric hasn't deformed a bit, but I tend to like denser fabrics, so I don't knit at the looser gauge currently favoured. More on reddit.com
