After finally getting the password to an old account I had in high school, I tried to log in, but it’s associated with an email account I no longer have access to. I cannot move forward into accessing the account without inputting the security code that was sent to the email.

How do I get in contact instagram support with trying to resolve this? I searched the instagram help center, but no luck 😣

This is how you contact IG support due to 2FA codes or a disabled account…..

If you have been locked out of IG due to 2FA, have a disabled account…This is what you do!!

I will be writing a long step by step guide to recovering your IG and hopefully it works for you!

I have an IG account with over 120K and I spent 2 weeks crying that I couldn’t get pass my 2FA due to the fact that I had updated my iPhone and lost my backup codes & I wasn’t receiving my six digit codes because it was link to an app I had no access to anymore!

If you are in the same boat, please don’t worry, understand that I took 72HRS to research what steps I can take in order to contact Instagram support live.

If you follow a step-by-step, you should be able to recover your account. Please keep in mind the only reason why I’m making another sub. Reddit is because I’m going to show examples of what you should be writing to Instagram ensure that they respond back to you. It took me a lot of patience to recover my account, and it was a difficult process to get it back.

1. Click the link below: https://help.instagram.com/contact/1676704782672605

Click on “ How do I contact Meta with questions regarding the Privacy Policy?” Next click on “How can I exercise my privacy rights” finally click on “ I still have a question on how to exercise my privacy rights “ then fill out your name and email and press send.

2. You are going to wait about 24HRS to get automated email about data and privacy. Email should say “ Hi Thanks for contacting us about how to exercise your Privacy Rights. Access your Information: As an Instagram user, you can access your information by logging into your Instagram account and using the Data Download tool.”

Reply to this email… This is very important and I can’t stress it enough please remember keep the email about your data and privacy rights. Like the subreddit I shared above the user was right!!! It is very crucial to keep the discussion centered around data and privacy rights because you will not get a response back! FOR EXAMPLE: “ Hi, Instagram thank you for the information. However, I'm still in need of support in regards to accessing any of the data associated with my account. I cannot seem to manage nor delete any of my data due to the fact that I'm locked out of my account due to 2-factor authentication. I can’t get past it. “ so you are going to explain the issue you are having, in my case I was locked out due to 2FA and you are going to give them your username handle on top of that supply them information that can prove that you own the account such as a Facebook page with your name and photos or a Twitter page, any old screenshots that you might have when you were signed into your Instagram lastly, I provided my drivers license with a another photo of me holding my drivers license. The more info you provide to them the more easier it will be for you to get a response. Then you’re going to end the email like this ” Please help me regain access to my account as I still have sensitive information connected to that account. I'd like to exercise my privacy rights, but I'm concerned with how I'm able to do that if I'm locked out of my own account”

3. Please wait 2-3 days for this next step to come, if you provide enough information you will get this email next “ Hi, Thank you for contacting us.Please reply to this email providing an email address you want to be associated with your account. “

PLEASE create a new email to give IG!! Do not use a old email or anything that has been link to another account”

Reply back saying “ thank you & this is the alternate email you can use for my account :…..” make sure you are writing the username and even put the link to ur IG in the email.

4. Next another 2-3 days you should get an email to ur new email address you gave them “ Hi, We've received your request and would like to help, but we'll need more information first. Please tell us the problem you’re having with Ig as much detail as possible”

This is when you are going to explain in very detailed what ur issue is, if it’s being locked out, if that ur account is disabled.. go into details please and also you are going to attach the photo that they asked for which is a picture of yourself with a code that they provide on a piece of paper. Remember to write it very clearly with ur full name and username and send the email out. NEXTTT STEP IS IMPORTANT!!

5. Make sure to copy and paste the email address that emails you on ur new email and start a new email on your original email to that email you copied and paste. Make the subject line Instagram account @___ explain to them in the email that you received an email to your new email asking for a code and a photo and you did comply with their request!! Remember you were going to do this with your original email, if you do not complete this, you might wait even longer!!

6. Okay so this where I was stressed the most about, it took them a week to reply to me with my backup code to access my account.. I received the email about a mugshot with code on a Sunday and I replied back the next day, I should’ve replied back sooner because maybe I would’ve gotten my account back faster. Anyways, since I replied on Monday, I waited until Thursday and I was getting anxious so I sent a follow-up email. I let another couple of days pass by and on Sunday I sent my second follow up email in the morning and they replied a few hours later, with my backup code to log in! I was able to recover my account.

Please note to get a response from Instagram. You must send out emails very early in the morning due to the fact that they have weird working hours. It’s crucial to send out the emails in the morning. Also, don’t be afraid to follow up with them because I feel like that’s how I regain access to my account and everyone is different. Some people get back there account in three days while others wait three weeks. Keep in mind it’s a waiting game and you have to be optimistic with these things. I understand that it’s frustrating and if I want to be honest, the only thing that was getting me through this was someone else who experienced the same thing and he helped me step-by-step regain my account back. just with his support I got to this point and I did gain a friendship through this experience.
