Do we know if there is going to be consumer versions of the surface pro 10?
It kind of feels like Microsoft has decided that consumers are gullible, and just buy whatever has the highest version number. Thus they are going to try and shove AI (Copilot Plus), and ARM down our throats .
I don't want Copilot Plus, or ARM!
Hey guys. I have a Surface pro 6 in really good condition. But I’m sure I will need to upgrade at some point. I am a little nervous with the ARM products coming out and being able to use it with video conferencing software i.e Zoom and Teams as well as some use cases. I will be getting into project management also.
I’m thinking of going big or go home with as much RAM and internal storage to use it as my all in one device along with a personal phone and work phone.
How good is the emulator factor on ARM with Surface devices?
I've been using ARM for almost 4 years now; first with a Surface Pro X and now a Surface Pro 9.
You'll be fine with Zoom and Teams - there are ARM native versions that run just as well as the x86 versions.
The full Microsoft Office suite runs natively on ARM (although I'm not certain on MS Project) - I've found emulation to be fine even on things lie Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer which were very slow on the older Surface Pro X - given the increase in power with the new Snapdragon CPU's coming this summer I expect emulation to be even better.
I honestly can't think of anything I use day to day now which doesn't have an ARM native version; I work in IT and do a lot of Microsoft Admin / Development in SharePoint, Team, 365 and managing infrastructure.
With the AI built into my SP9 and 5G its an excellent video conferencing device.
Video conferencing is one of the main selling points of these ARM devices as they offer AI-related features like auto framing and background blur without taxing the CPU or GPU. Both Teams and Zoom have arm native apps, and by the looks of things, there will be webcam upgrades to the Pro 10 like the business version. If anything, the new devices will be much better for video conferencing
I got today the Surface Pro 10 for business. a bit of background, I had Surface Laptop 3 before, as well as Surface Pro X. This thing is amazing. the sounds quality is so good, it is better than my Surface laptop was, and you cannot even compare with Pro X. I like the smooth screen, it gets very bright, need to wait for a brighter day to test it at max setting. It got warm when doing the initial installations and updates, but once it settled in it runs pretty silent. Installed software like Solidworks 2024, Fusion 360 and runs them fine. I have desktop with Radeon Pro and Ryzen but I dont really miss their performance, this runs well enough. The portability is great. Battery life needs more testing, but I have quite good feeling about it. I will update once I learn a bit more about it.
