How does the adjective 'gorgeous' contrast with its synonyms?
Some common synonyms of gorgeous are glorious, resplendent, splendid, sublime, and superb. While all these words mean "extraordinarily or transcendently impressive," gorgeous implies a rich splendor especially in display of color.
// a gorgeous red dress
What is a handsome woman?
How do 'lovely' and 'beautiful' relate to one another, in the sense of 'handsome'?
Lovely is close to beautiful but applies to a narrower range of emotional excitation in suggesting the graceful, delicate, or exquisite.
// a lovely melody
i (30 f) am talking to a new guy and I'm running out of creative ways to call him handsome. (I'm obsessed, he's totally out of my league) i call him handsome, hot, a cutie... what's something that makes you genuinely feel good without sounding to "cutesy"? is there something specific that strokes the ego or masculinity?
edit: when i say out of my league it's not a self esteem slam, im actually pretty confident typically, its more of a morale boost for him. i believe everyone in my life is "better" than me, and i think that's how it should be... just like how i truly believe i don't have an ugly girl-friend. AND ITS NOT JUST ABOUT LOOKS. i am pretty great, and i like to surround myself with people who are also great, people support and lift me up, people who push my boundaries, i am a lover and am in awe of things people are capable of doing and don't believe in hiding my amazement.
Different synonyms for good-looking: pretty, beautiful, cute, hot, sexy, handsome, striking, etc. all evoke different vibes. For example, some people can be cute but not sexy, or very striking but not pretty. Doesn't mean they don't look good, just that they look good in different ways.
Haven't been able to place what exactly the vibes of gorgeous are though, and was wondering what people thought?
