I’m on a grandfather plan and was looking to upgrade my old iPhone for the 17. Was told by by T-Mobile I can trade any iPhone damaged or not for $830 without changing my plan. It’s not advertised they call it in house targeted upgrade. Anyone have experience with this? Sounds fishy

So I work for T-Mobile customer care and can promise you the promo is real and you do not have to make any account changes like a rate plan change nor add a line. Now every account is not eligible for it though. You’d have to call in and they can see if you have the targeted promotion, also to say this promotion is only available through customer care, I’ve attempted to send some customers to the stores, followed up with them, and store claims they don’t see the promotion. I’ve had luck with experience stores being able to get a customer the promotion if they are a targeted customer. Additionally you only pay sales tax, no activation/upgrade fee. So if you have good account finance credit, you’re only paying sales tax. This promotion is very real and has been going on a little over a month. Of course you have to turn in your device within the time frame and it not be a lost/stolen device but just about any phone you can trade in. Don’t listen to the users here claiming it moves you to another plan, cause it does not if you have this targeted promotion I can assure you 100% best bet is to call and see if you have it.

For your plan probably not. If you move to Verizon get ready to pay $10+ more than the advertised price because of the taxes and fees that aren't included like on your plan. They do three year contracts as well. Unless the Verizon plan is significantly cheaper (which I doubt) you aren't going to come out ahead over just buying a phone full price.

T-Mobile Trade in requirements are the following in good condition: -LCD/Front Glass -No water damage -Powers on -Find My iPhone is off (Apple users) If all these things are good (Depending on your phone, Androids or Apple) then it meets our “Eligible Trade-In device” guidelines. Granted there are smaller requirements under the LCD/Front Glass requirement but be sure to have your Mobile Expert check those smaller requirements to pass it officially. Getting back to the point with your scratched up frame OP, it’ll pass our trade-in requirements.
