Fais baisser le prix au concessionnaire, ils vont matcher le prix de Lebeau ou whatever, donc tu vas avoir ça de moins à gosser après avoir pris possession du véhicule. Pour les assurances ça dépend de trop de choses pour te répondre. Certains vont t'obliger à en avoir un selon le modèle de véhicule tandis que d'autres non, et les rabais sur ta prime est aussi quelque chose de très variable.

I am about to take delivery of a Hybrid LE after a 13 month wait (in Ontario, Canada). I am negotiating final cost, in particular the extended warranties and add-ons, and am finding that these are generally not worth it. However, one item I hadn't seen before is TAG tracker, an anti-theft/vehicle recovery measure. Apparently it is mandated to be installed on commonly-stolen vehicles in certain jurisdictions, and in these places it can enable an insurance discount. The dealer's starting point is for this item is $999.

Does anyone have experience with TAG trackers or similar products, and/or can advise on aftermarket installation costs in Ontario? I'd like to leverage that info to negotiate a lower cost, or just get it done after I pick up the car.

Haven’t heard of the tracker. My dealership sold me on a $159 engraving on the commonly sold parts of a car. They gave me a speech about how most cars when stolen aren’t sold as a whole but are taken apart and pieces are sold. They also claimed it also is an insurance discount in my state. I switched insurances before purchasing my car and mentioned this to multiple insurance companies when getting a quote and out of the 5 companies I spoke to none of the agents had ever heard of it. Sadly I got overwhelmed with financial part and signed all these papers and then got shown the price of this engraving was included and wouldn’t be able to be removed. I will say I paid 1k over MSRP for my hybrid but got 1,300 off of the lifetime warranty so there is some bargaining to be done even in this market.

Buying a new scooter and I don't want to feel like a hopeless idiot if this one gets stolen like the one before it. I have an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy) so I need something similar to an Airtag that will allow me to track my scooter from afar if it's stolen. Searching online has produced few reliable recommendations for currently available products.

When I was on a train, I can tell who uses those things. My phone will alert me that "An unknown tracking device is moving with you" within moments of someone with a bike getting on. I imagine thieves have more advanced detection methods, and techniques to locate and remove them or just jam the signal. I'm not saying don't use them, I'm saying not to solely rely on them. You want to take a comprehensive approach to security, and even then nothings guaranteed. Get a decent lock and be mindful of where you lock your scooter. You don't want to hide it, you want it out in the open where there will be cameras and bystanders. Businesses don't have to provide camera footage, even if a crime has been committed. It's their camera and their footage. I had a grocery store refuse to let police look their footage when my bike got stolen, and it's not like footage from a grocery store parking lot is going to have industry trade secrets or anything. They just don't care. Bystanders are also notorious for the bystander effect, so don't expect anyone to do anything. All of this is just a deterrent, mostly a mental one. Whatever you do, don't use train station or apartment complex bike racks. Those might as well be a shopping mall for thieves. Second thing I recommend is a bike alarm. It's basically a car alarm for your bike. Comes with a key fob and everything. People ignore car alarms all the time, but again this is another mental deterrent and it only costs $20 and you get a cool key fob that makes your scooter go beep. Visually, it's probably best to not keep your scooter super clean or make it look flashy or expensive. Let it look like a rusty bucket of bolts that's going to fall apart a mile up the road. This was easy for me, because I ride a really janky scooter and my front wheel is being held in place by a screwdriver. It might actually fall apart on someone if they stole it, lol. And yeah, getting a galaxy smart tag might help too, but like I said, incorporate it into a more comprehensive strategy. Besides glaxy smart tags, there are other trackers like tile, chipolo, and pebblebee if you want to consider all of your options. I think some of them might charge a subscription or something, so be aware of what you're getting into.

Dont use galaxy smarts tags. They suck as they only ping other samsung devices. Therefore they're not nearly as accurate. Use moto tags. They ping ALL android devices with google find my device capability.

TD insurance is going to jack my insurance rates almost 1000$ a year if I dont get one of these installed on my Dodge Ram.

Has anyone had any expierence with any of these?

Where did you go to get it installed in London?

I had this exact same message from TD. For $400 you can get TAG installed at any speedy auto Glass, that'll shut them up. And now I'm looking for a new insurer for when mine expires in August. It pissed me off that they couldn't tell me exactly how much my premium would increase, other than "up to $2500, the exact number will be in your renewal paperwork" So yeah. Farewell to my 20+ year loyalty, they just had to keep to increasing a little every year, nickel and diming, this was the last straw.

I'm going through this right now with our new car and TD. Probably gonna get the IGLA installed at Carphonix. It's more expensive than the trackers but I figure if I'm gonna get something then I might as well pay up a bit extra for the preventative measure instead of a tracker that just tells me which boat it's on after it's been stolen.
