Hey all! I just got my first apartment, and after a few months of picking out, assembling and unpacking it feels like home. There’s still a lot to do like get things on walls, but I want to add one more piece of furniture.
In my bedroom across from my bed is a dark grey Hemnes desk where I have my computer setup, as well as a turntable (for dimension purposes it’s a LP-120, which is listed as “450.0 mm (17.72") W x 352.0 mm (13.86") D x 157.0 mm (6.1") H” on the AudioTechnica site). To the right of all that are my record crates.
I want to move the turntable onto a new table that goes between the Hemnes desk and crates. I have two Lack side tables in my living room for rear surround speakers and lamps, and they’re about the right size (could stand to be a hair bigger for the turntable), but not the right height, they’re far too short for what I’m looking for.
What’s the closest Ikea has to a table of that size that’s about twice it’s height?

Wanted a table/shelf next to the couch that didn’t need to be secured to the wall… got crafty with an EKBY ALEX shelf and some BURGSHULT shelves. It had to be tall enough that you could open the storage portion of the couch so even though it looks a little funky it actually works perfectly!
It’s awkward and not perfect, but it does exactly what I needed it too and I’m proud of it!
Anybody done this? I am so sick of all the side tables/nightstands these days that have crappy drawer slides, the drawers don't go anywhere close to the back of the unit, and they aren't full extension. All because they're worried about tip-over. I've looked everywhere and can't find one with decent storage space and the right dimensions for next to a sofa.
So I was thinking a 24"x24" Sektion with drawers, but unfortunately they are 30" tall and my windows start at 25". I thought they might have some 24" high base cabinets, but I guess not. Is it possible to hack one to be shorter, and leave a drawer out?
Any other out of the box idea anyone can think of? Dressers and nightstands aren't deep enough.
Thanks!
Anyone have any idea for what ikea piece might serve as a taller nightstand, somewhere around 32”-35” tall? All the listed nightstands are too short, and I can’t seem to find another piece that’s the right height that still fulfills the purpose of a nightstand (space for a reading lamp, book, phone etc). My bed is very tall between the mattress, box spring, and frame so I need something I won’t have to lean down to use from bed.
