I have an exiting CIBC credit card where I utilize about 500$ each month out of 3,500 limit (have auto pay enabled and also manually pay every Friday). Never defaulted on any payments for either internet or phone and have no other debt. (Credit score 710).
Moved to Canada in May 2018 and lived at the same address since July 2018 till date.
I have a sales job so my base is pretty low (35 pre tax) but I make about 800-1000 commission.
I have a chequing account and a TFSA with tangerine. I never use the chequing though. Tangerine won’t let me reapply for a card online and I was really looking forward to their awesome cash back.
What should I do now?
I (36f) have never owned a credit card. I have applied at 3 different banks and been rejected. I think one of them asked for a downpayment that would be returned in a year if I remember correctly.
Would I have better luck with Tangerine bank?
Or does anyone have advice for building a credit history/score at my age? I'm a stay at home mom without steady income so maybe that will work against me?
