I’m actually nervous about how chaotic it’s going to be on Black Friday (first time seasonal), I just know it’s going to be mayhem working in fulfillment. 4am-12:45pm Good luck everyone else working🫶🏻Goodnight
I work front end (very frequently service desk) and just found out about the swag bags for the first 100 guests on Black Friday. And yes, I am opening bright and early on Black Friday. I just experienced my first Pokémon release day last week and while it wasn’t terrible, it came as a surprise and definitely made us all a little tense right at open (we had people camping outside that morning).
I keep seeing TikTok comments talking about “bring back crazy Black Friday! I want to see some fights!” And like yes I love watching VIDEOS of the drama, but I really REALLY don’t want to be involved.
I just had a difficult guest interaction the other day and I’m just bracing myself for next Friday. If anyone has any advice for working Black Friday front end that would be greatly appreciated! Godspeed to you all as we enter this next week. 🫡
i’ve worked retail before but only overnight stocking, so black friday on the floor is totally new to me. who else is working it this year? is it really that busy? my store is high volume for back to school and even that was insane, we had every lane open!! i’m assuming black friday is gonna be the same? do people really line up early for the swag bags? trying to figure out what to expect lol

anyone seeing any real black friday deals at target yet? i’ve been checking the early ads and most of it looks like the same prices they have all year. i’m trying to grab a few home items and maybe some electronics but i don’t want to wait if better deals aren’t coming. if you’ve spotted anything worth grabbing or know when the good drops usually hit, let me know.
I’m seeing all these tik toks about how the deals are not really deals and they jack the prices up before putting them on sale to make it seem like there’s a deal
One of my PM this morning put in an order for over 27 paperback books, Christmas items, infant and children toys, perishables (frozen and ice cream), and a variety of non-groceries from plants, vases, and clothing! The order didn’t start until 9-10am and was 6am here.
So me without really looking at the entire order (2 orders same person) almost $700, decided to go to Target early. I arrived at 6:30am.
In a nutshell, MADHOUSE! All the parking spaces at Target were filled and we are talking even the holiday expansion ones! 36 drive up as well as the entire parking lot. I had to park near AutoZone which is a good 200 yards away!
I get into Target, carts all gone. By this time I see the madness Black Friday causes. I look in disbelief, as it appeared to be an insane dash for all the deals Target is offering. Some people were even in pajamas!
Sadly to say, I dropped the order (the only thing that went right). I didn’t communicate as I wanted to see if I could get a head start well before the granted two hour window. I felt bad at 1st but then realized I saved my rating and sanity! I don’t feel bad for any other person to try because I know what perils lie ahead. As Stephen from “Braveheart” said it best, “He wasn’t right in the head.”
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving/Turkey Day! Good luck out there!
for a starbucks shift is crazy
i’ve got a 4am to 2pm… in fulfillment
$40/ per 4k disc $30/ blu ray
No kinda deal
The only thing that might save us, is that Labubu are Black Friday door busters at Walmart this year. And, not many people seem to want the weird Chinese knockoff Lafufu type dolls that we are selling.
My first time opening for Black Friday 😭 is it normal to open by yourself on Black Friday 😭because I am…..
I've been here for a little over 4 months now, and I'm so not ready for Black Friday next month lol. how bad does it get? I know it's a week-long thing and not a one-day thing like many other stores. and what time do stores open b/c I'm reading mixed responses online
also, I've heard that there's a lot of people scheduled that day but it's still crazy busy so you're up and moving around nonstop. I googled last year's Black Friday ad and kind of skimmed through it, and it basically seemed like circle week, just bigger. I was thinking of snagging a few essentials if they were on sale—the only things I really buy from Target w/ my TM discount are some snacks. And some produce for part of my family's groceries.
I say this every year [this will be my 7th holiday season]... I genuinely don't feel like it's that bad.
It's busy. Don't get me wrong. It's really fucking busy.
But it's not the "hordes of rampaging zombies" like it was in the 1990s and 2000s. Hell, every year, my store will have a few days in December where we do more in sales $$$ than Black Friday.
And as long as decent amount of people show up, we do staff pretty well for it.
I hate Cyber Monday more than Black Friday.
Every single video I’ve seen on social media belongs here. Every single person bitched about waiting in line for so long, because you had to be one of the first 100 people. Every single person bitched about what was given to them for free, with no purchase necessary. I thought it was kinda cool that Target and some other companies did this for their customers.
I know it’s only 1pm but I’ve already been hearing some crazy stories. Feel free to vent here bc I have a feeling we’ll all need it at the end of the day 🥲
I just woke up from a 2-3 hour sleep.
I packed more sfs units in less than 3 hours prior to 9am than our store usually gets for the 4:30pm pack on a typical day in fulfillment.
i only got 2 hours of sleep and a swiftie barged into the stock room to ask me when more taylor swift books were coming in. that's how my day went lol
Target with the huge amount of total debt on your balance sheet and your very thin margins, you should probably skip Black Friday this year and focus more on righting your ship in more substantive ways.
It going to take more than midnight shoppers to pull you out of the giant hole you're in.
