Whenever this question comes up, the hivemind of this sub quickly flocks to the debit card. And yes, if you are concerned about 5/24, don't want a hard pull, or anything else potentially negative that comes with opening a credit card account, then yes yes yes, absolutely go for the debit version. This sub is often all about "MAXIMIZE EVERYTHING." If this is your mindset, even slightly, then definitely go with the debit card. Definitely. But if you don't apply for a lot of cards and would simply prefer the credit version, especially when thinking long-term, don't let anyone tell you it is a stupid move. Any no AF credit card that I plan to use regularly and keep forever - personally speaking - is worth the hard pull/new account/etc. I will trade short-term negative effects for long-term positive effects, happily. I opened the credit version almost two years ago, so the inquiry will be dropping off and the account will no longer be considered new soon, and am 100% happy with my choice. Long-term, I prefer the credit version, and I make all of my moves with the long-term in mind. At the end of the day, you do you. Just beware of boiled down financial advice.
