I have some old cards and I want to gift them. But I want to know if they are enough for the occasion. And I don’t want to pre scratch them.
Update: I called customer service and gave them the GC number. Customer service rep told me that the GC had been spent, but will investigate and had me email a picture of the GC front and back. She said it was okay that I didn’t have the receipt since it was a gift. I got an e-mail 4 hours later from Target guest service that they will replace the gift card and it will be mailed to me. Thankfully I didn’t have to contact the gift sender and bother them with this. I highly suggest avoiding gifting physical Target gift cards (even with the new packaging) since it seems like scams are still happening! If you do gift a physical gift card, include the receipt!
— I know there has been a huge issue with gift cards being scammed, but this one has the newer packaging where it has the pull tab. I just tried to put a $50 target gift card into my wallet and it popped up with an error message that the balance is zero. I’m planning on contacting the gift giver to let him know, but wondering if it would be a loss if he doesn’t have the receipt as I feel bad for him having to go through all the trouble if Target can’t reimburse him.
