DIY Tatami Platform Bed
This is a flawed design, you need to have airflow to prevent mold.
This is a strong structure for a bed, but each square compartment is going to trap moisture and cause all kinds of problems.
This is more similar to how I would frame a floor in a house than a platform bed btw, where did you get this design?
When I am building flooring in a house, you build a structure similar to this with long boards called joists every 16" (40cm). These are the main structures that bear the weight from the flooring (plywood or osb). You use shorter pieces that are perpendicular to the joists to help evenly distribute the load.
Plywood or OSB is used instead of planks as they are more dimensionally stable. If you use planks the structure can curl and warp to cause all sorts of problems if you don't have gaps between planks.
Beds are generally built with a different purpose in mind, and have a more open structure to allow more air flow so as not to trap moisture. You can make a strong structure with less material than that of the framing structure for flooring I described above (which your diagram more closely resembles).

I'm buying a house and I don't really have the money to spend on a bed so I'm hoping to make one for myself. I know some people who are very good with woodworking so if it's complicated that's okay. I'm looking for something in this style. I really like both the side tables and the back board on it.
