I was lookin on Amazon Prime and see that they have this Amazon Tax Exemption Program. Do small businesses with amazon prime qualify for no taxes on their purchases or?
I am a sole proprietor and own a small business, a jewelry store. One-man operation. For example, I get emails from Amazon about a business account and being sales tax exempt. Also from Comcast Business for my internet bill about being sales tax exempt.
Is it as simple as submitting my business info/TIN to be sales tax exempt? These would be business purchases/business use cases. Any implications with the IRS or law? I reside in TN.
Or is all of this just for non profit companies? I’m not a non profit.

Hey everyone, I recently finally applied for a sales tax id after going through a couple accountants and being told different things by different people. Finally with my current CPA and business attorney, they clarified that yes, I am supposed to be collecting sales tax.
Anyway, my question is-
Sometimes I like to order work stuff from amazon, especially if I cant find things other places. I registered for an amazon business account and uploaded my tax exempt certificate. But for whatever reason the selection for work stuff is damn near non existent for window cleaning on amazon buisiness. Is there anyway I can order things from the regular amazon site and still use my tax exempt certificate? If so, how do I do that.
Thanks!
I’m 21 & still in school living with my parents and wanted to know if I am able to claim exemption from federal or NY State taxes because I don’t file taxes. I’m still claimed as a dependent because my father still pays for almost everything for me even though I am working. Amazon is the first real job I’ve worked my whole life, the ones prior never amounted to the ~12k yearly income minimum that is required before filing taxes so I just never did and I also believe my father claiming me would mess with it anyways. The reason I want an exemption is because taxes eat up a good percent of my check & I’m not even eligible to get it back at the end of the year because I don’t get a tax return.
I have a tax exemption as a reseller in MO. If I have how do I manually add back the tax to ONE item in my Amazon cart? 3 items in may cart are tax exempt and one is not.
(I tried contacting Amazon, they told me they would send an email with instructions and they did not.)
Wanted to bring home a little more bread for prime week, but Amazon doesn’t let us small brained associates change their information thru the app? It takes you to the ADP dashboard, but any changes are locked out. What happens if I got divorced or had another child? Gotta go through HR or ADP?
I just did it few weeks ago when I got my 5 year bonus and then changed it back last week. 🤷♀️
You can claim exempt.
From the A to Z app click Pay. Then click View Pay Details. Scroll down to the “Tax Withholding” portion of the page. You can then fill out and sign an electronic W4, as well as the form your state uses to alter tax withholding. Fill out the forms, electronically sign them, then submit.
I sometimes buy things to flip and shipping supplies on Amazon and I have a business license so those purchases are tax exempt. I also use the same account to buy personal items which are not tax exempt. Ever since I added my business license information Amazon has been taking the sales tax off all my items and I can't figure out how to make the exemption only apply on the correct purchases. Yeah, I'd like to not pay sales tax on anything, but I'd rather follow the tax rules in case I ever get audited.
What's the best way to handle this?
Go to Amazon.com desktop website not the app. Go to the bottom of the page where it says “your account” click on it and then go to “Amazon tax exemption program” at the bottom tax exemption Them choose “No thanks. Set up tax exemptions with my current account.” Choose the state that ur in then choose the “resale ” option resale Then pick ur organization name and put a random name and address in ur state. Then choose resale as the exemption and put that you have that states business registration number. And just google the format and amount of numbers in ur state business registration is and put that amount as ur states business registration number. Ex:Wyoming business registration number format is 10 numbers so put 10 random numbers. Then sign and wait 15 minutes for the tax exemption to take effect. You should get a email from Amazon confirmation shortly. To check if the tax free exemption is active add something to the cart and check out. If you’ve done everything correctly It should show this tax free . Enjoy ur tax free Amazon shopping experience. (Educational purposes only)
A coworker is trying to convince me to go exempt for the remainder of the year because of peak. I’ve never done it and not sure if there would be any consequences if it’s only for like a month and a half lmao so I was wondering if anyone has ever done it ?
Going exempt that long will increase you tax liabilities when it comes time to file. If you don’t generally get anything back when you file or end up paying it would be a bad idea. If you get a nice return when you file going exempt will just give you your money earlier than filing.
I do it all the time. It’s a numbers game. Never owed anything come tax time.
So I am trying to get tax exemptions on my Amazon duo business account and Home Depot and everything else, it says I need to fill out a form 1023 EZ on pay.gov is this the only way that I can become tax exempt? Because I would also not like to pay taxes at Home Depot and the supply houses that I spend thousands at a month.
I’ve got an a EIN, and an official business account in the name of the LLC.
I’m an Electrician.
Hi All,
I am new to the reselling business in Canada. I want to know that is there a tax exemption for the resellers? Practically, I am paying taxes when I buy and the buyer who buys from me pays taxes again on the same item. My logical brain is saying that there should be a tax exemption.
Please help me out here.
Thanks
Got a paycheck for 900$ and taxes took 250$💔

EDIT: Sorry for the confusion but apparently the Great State of Oklahoma is the ONLY state that offers state tax sales tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans. This will ONLY work for Oklahoma residents.
If you didn't know, you can apply your tax except to Amazon purchases. Just Google Amazon tax exempt, upload your state sales tax exempt card and within a few hours get an email saying it's ready for use.
