July 13, 2023 - I also paid $111.63 in non-tax fees. Do you know what that is? My second question is, about a month later when I got my plate- I got a property tax bill for ~$400. Isn’t that what I paid as the $1800? Why do I owe another $400? ... So the $100x is registration, title and tag fees.

r/Charlotte on Reddit: Does anybody have a ballpark estimate of the tax, tag, title, registration, and dealer fees that I might expect leasing or buying a car in Charlotte?
November 11, 2015 -
I'm trying to figure out the best route with my finances and I don't want to sit down at a dealership without a range of figures in my head. I would be aiming for a vehicle MSRP between $23-30k.
Thanks y'all!

Dealer fees are variable. Property tax on vehicles is 1.5% Sales tax on vehicles is 3% Plate fees are $36. On a $25k car you're looking at approx. $1125 in taxes plus another $300~700 in fees. Don't forget that the property tax is annual, so you've got another bill of 1.5% of the estimated value every year (and trust me, it's way higher than you'd ever be able to sell the car for).

I've found dealer fees in the Charlotte area to just be insane - simply put. $499, 699, 799 doc fees? Fudge that. I head out of town to the joints that either don't charge them or keep them less than $199 or are willing to lower the price to compensate for the bullshit fee.
