November 29, 2025What's everyone's opinion on Taylor Kitsch's Gambit? I thought he was okay
I don't know if this is controversial or not, but I always thought Kitsch was a much better fit for Gambit than Channing Tatum. I just think that Kitsch has more charisma and swag, he's more suave, and from what I've seen, is a better actor than Tatum. I mean.... look at him, Kitsch is the most Gambit looking dude I've ever seen. It's genuinely frustrating knowing that Fox had some great actors, who resembled their comic book counterparts, but they were wasted or written poorly. James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Ben Foster as Angel, hell even Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth. All great castings in my opinion, but most, if not all, of them were just wasted. More on reddit.com

People really-really don't give True Detective Season 2 it's props. That's because season one was just so awesome. But season 2 had some great stuff, Taylor as officer Woodrugh was great acting. John Carter was supposed to be his global breakout, but it ended up becoming one of Disney’s biggest financial failures ever. then came Battleship, released around the same time, and it also flopped both critically and commercially, another direct hit to his image as a box office star. after that, Savages did okay, but not nearly enough to recover the damage from the first two bombs....
From that point on, studios stopped seeing him as a bankable star, even though he’s genuinely talented in projects like Friday Night Lights and Waco.

He wasnt even the main leading football player on FNL. Scott Porter, Zach Gilfoy, Michael B Jordan and Jesse Plemmons acted circles around him. Thats why storylines ended up revolving around them more. He was just prettier and taller than most of them, but he lacked the range the others exhibited even then.

August 1, 2024 - I LOVED Taylor Kitsch as Gambit & wish they would have brought him back for Deadpool, Wolverine movie. Tatum didn't fit for me in the role at all!!! That is my biggest let down in the movie as Kitsch would have made it so GREAT with Snipes & Gardner so I am for sure disappointed in his character not making a cameo.
