Yesterday I could open links in Teams using my system default browser, which is Chrome. Today, it's changed to Edge and nothing seems to set it back.
System browser default is Chrome, every link in all other apps will use Chrome for links, but today for some reason, Teams opens Edge for every link, despite my having Chrome set as default, so it looks like a new update where MS is forcing Edge?
Anyone else seeing this issue? Any workarounds? I've tried resetting back to MS defaults and then setting Chrome as default again, updating Teams etc., but doesn't seem to change anything in how Teams handles links.
I figured out how to do this by trial and error. When you copy the link from a specific message, you need to clip the reference to that specific message out of the link. For instance, in my case the link for the message looks like this:
https://teams.microsoft.us/l/message/xx:xxxx:[email protected]/nnnn?context=%7B%22contextType%22%3A%22chat%22%7D
Where the xx's are as MC said above, and the nnnn's are the numbers that reference the specific message. You want to delete the "/" after the ".v2" and all the numbers up to, but not including, the question mark. So in this case the new link would be:
https://teams.microsoft.us/l/message/xx:xxxx:[email protected]?context=%7B%22contextType%22%3A%22chat%22%7D
This will take you directly to the chat, and display the most recent message, whereas the first link would be a static link to the specific message, which may be old or even deleted depending on your organization's policy.
