What equipment should a small nonprofit get for hybrid meetings? Thanks for any advice!!!
Technology for Hybrid Meetings
If you use a good quality mic connected directly to the laptop and all speakers in the physical room come to the lectern and speak, it should not be a problem.
If your speakers move a lot, use a clip mic or a cordless mic that the speaker holds in their hands.

Technology for hybrid meetings
We bought a device called a Meeting Owl that works well, it was pricey though!

I hope it is okay to ask for advice here. It's an interesting situation.
I'm a volunteer at a small, community-service charity that's struggling with hybrid meetings. I'm the one one who is supposed to find a solution. While I live on Zoom for work, I know nothing about hybrid meetings or conference equipment.
What equipment do you recommend? Here is the situation
-
Meetings must be hybrid. We want everyone to be welcome at meetings. Some people only will meet in person. Others find virtual more convenient. And others must use virtual, because of disability-related limitations. We encourage the community to come to our meetings, too.
-
Skill level - Low. We are all volunteers and don't have an IT specialist. We all know tech people, but they don't know much about video conferencing.
-
Resources - Limited. Our charity is entirely funded with donations. Our budget is very small - less than $15,000 a year. Nearly all of that must be spent on community projects.
-
Space - Varies. We use community space for meetings (e.g., a school classroom, a large public library room). We can't always book the same space. In-person attendees still want to socially distance, so we use a large space. People don't sit around a conference table.
-
Current equipment - Personal laptops. We don't have an organizational computer. We all have different laptops.
So we have the usual problems. In-person people can't see virtual people and vice versa. No one can hear each other. Only virtual people can see anything shared on screen.
I would love any advice or ideas!!!
I did a lot of my own research but am pretty stumped, since most advice is for larger organizations. I love learning and solving problems. Part of that is asking for advice. Thanks!!!
