The Teensy 4.0 SMT footprint requires the addition of edge cuts (indicated by lines in the Dwgs.User layer) which create castellated connections for most pins. Pins 2, 3, 31, 32 & 34 are not castellated and will require careful soldering and probably a wire to ensure a reliable connection.

June 28, 2018 - Honestly, I’d love a community designed Teensy++ successor which has USB pin breakout. The ARM Cortex-M - based Teensies have the USB D+/D- exposed as SMD pads. This includes the long Teensy 3.5 and 3.6. BTW. The Pro Micro-pinout compatible Elite-C and QMK Proton C expose D+/D- as pins (but you can't make a footprint that fits both )

June 21, 2024 - A Teensy 3.5 and 4.1 are cross compatible in that they can run the same software, work with the same sensors etc, but they have different pin assignments so they cannot be directly swapped for each other on a PCB. You can make the rest of the computer work with a 4.1 if you carefully check the pinout diagrams and rewire everything as necessary.

Teensy 3.2 & 3.1 have exactly the same pinout. Teensy 3.2 provides more power on its 3.3V pin, and accepts a wider voltage input range.

These small pins did not destroy the socket, although the MPU chip did not fit as snuggly after having seated and unseated the pin headers a half-dozen or so times. Upon replacing the ATmega328P with a breadboard-wired Teensy 3.5, Hilltopper microcontroller-based functions worked the same, but the unit was no longer receiving, or more precisely it appeared to be receiving somewhere out-of-band.

Since the Teensy website doesn't even have the 3.5 or 3.6 listed, it's of no help, and neither the Adafruit nor the SparkFun listings have the schematics for the 3.5 or 3.6. BTW, the thing I'm suspecting might be the 32.768kHz Xtal is between what appears to be a reset switch and board pins 25 & 26.
